The Korean church faces a significant crisis characterized by spiritual stagnation and stalled growth, partly due to the declining vitality of preaching. Preaching is not merely informational but a spiritual event where God’s Word transforms believers’ lives. Yet many sermons fail to convey the inherent vitality of the biblical text. Sermons that neglect the text or treat it superficially often lack the power to inspire genuine conviction and transformation. This study explores the importance of text-driven preaching as a vital response to this challenge. Scripture is not simply an ancient record but the living Word of God, active today. Thus, preachers must reveal the text’s vitality through three core stages: textual understanding, theological connection, and homiletical communication. Textual understanding demands thorough exegesis to grasp the author’s intent, literary structure, and emotional nuances. Theological connection bridges divine truths to the contemporary lives of listeners. Homiletical communication equips the congregation to internalize and apply these truths in daily life. The text, preacher, and audience form three crucial pillars of preaching that must remain integrated to preserve its vitality. The preacher’s spirituality, awareness of the audience’s context, and faithful engagement with the text are essential for sustaining preaching’s transformative power. This study proposes seven practical strategies for cultivating vital preaching: prayer, textual exegesis, revealing the Triune God, emotional engagement, storytelling, empathetic connection, and dependence on the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, preaching anchored in the biblical text empowers congregants to experience God’s living Word, offering a crucial path for the Korean church’s spiritual renewal and believers’ faith revitalization.

한국교회는 오늘날 신앙의 침체와 교회 성장의 정체라는 현실적 위 기에 직면해 있으며, 그 핵심 원인 중 하나는 설교가 본래 지닌 생명력 을 상실했기 때문이다. 설교는 단순한 정보 전달이 아니라 하나님의 말 씀으로 성도의 삶을 변화시키는 영적 사건이지만, 많은 설교가 본문의 고유한 생명력을 충분히 드러내지 못하고 있다. 본문을 생략하거나 표 면적으로 다루는 설교는 청중에게 영적 감동과 변화를 일으키기 어렵 다. 본 연구는 이러한 문제의식 속에서 본문이 이끄는 설교(Text- Driven Preaching)의 중요성을 탐구한다. 성경은 단순한 과거의 기록이 아니라, 오늘도 역사하시는 하나님의 살아 있는 말씀이다. 설교자는 본문 이해, 신학적 연결, 설교적 소통의 세 단계를 통해 본문이 지닌 생명력을 드러내야 한다. 본문 이해는 철 저한 주해로 저자의 의도와 본문의 구조, 감성을 파악하는 과정이며, 신학적 해석은 본문 속 하나님의 진리를 현대 청중의 삶과 연결하는 작 업이다. 설교적 소통은 이 진리를 청중이 이해하고 삶에 적용하도록 돕 는 영적 전달의 과정이다. 설교의 본문, 설교자, 청중은 설교의 세 축으 로 긴밀히 결합해야 하며, 설교자의 영성, 청중 이해, 본문의 충실한 해 석이 설교의 생명력을 좌우한다. 본 연구는 생명력 있는 설교의 실천 방안으로 기도, 본문 주해, 삼위하나님의 드러냄, 감성 전달, 스토리텔링, 청중 공감, 성령 의존 등 일 곱 가지를 제시하며, 본문이 설교를 주도할 때 청중은 하나님의 말씀 속에서 변화를 경험할 수 있음을 강조한다. 생명력 있는 설교만이 한국 교회의 영적 부흥을 이끌고, 성도들의 신앙을 새롭게 할 수 있다.
