This study aimed to develop and empirically test a posttraumatic growth (PTG) prediction model based on Calhoun and Tedeschi’s PTG model, ultimately providing foundational data for interventions to promote PTG in fire officers. Methods: Data from 335 fire officers were analyzed using self-report questionnaires and statistical tools to identify factors influencing PTG. Analysis using SPSS and AMOS showed the model's fitness met recommended criteria. Direct factors influencing PTG included calling, peer support, and deliberate rumination, with these variables explaining 59.5% of the variance in PTG. Among them, deliberate rumination was the most influential. Organizational support and self-disclosure were found to have indirect effects on PTG through deliberate rumination. The study highlights the need for interventions focusing on PTG rather than just PTSD prevention and offers guidance for developing integrated mental health programs for fire officers.

본 연구의 목표는 Calhoun과 Tedeschi의 외상 후 성장 모델을 바탕으로 소방공무원의 외상 후 성장 예측 모형을 개발하고 이를 실증적으로 검증하여, 소방공무원의 외상 후 성장을 촉진하기 위한 중재 프로그램의 기초자료를 제공하는 것이다. 335명의 소방공무원을 대상으로 자기 보고식 설문지를 이용하 여 자료를 수집하였으며 SPSS와 AMOS를 활용한 분석 결과, 연구 모형의 적합도가 권장 기준을 충족하였 다. 소방공무원의 외상 후 성장에 직접 효과를 미치는 요인은 소명의식, 동료의 지지, 의도적 반추였고 이들 변수에 의한 설명력은 59.5%였다. 의도적 반추는 가장 영향력이 큰 요인이었으며 조직의 지지와 자기 노출은 의도적 반추를 통해 간접적으로 외상 후 성장에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 소방공무원의 외상 후 성장을 촉진하기 위한 핵심적인 중재목표를 제시하고, 보다 효과적이고 통합적인 중재전략 및 정책마련을 모색하는 데 유용한 이론적 지침을 제공하였다.
