This study aimed to explore the conceptual structure of breast cancer survivors' experiences with Museum-Based Art Therapy (MBAT) through concept mapping research and to investigate the therapeutic value of museum spaces as settings for psychosocial intervention. The study employed concept mapping methodology with eight breast cancer survivors who participated in MBAT sessions. In-depth interviews were conducted to collect data about their MBAT experiences, resulting in 68 key statements. These statements underwent a two-phase process where participants sorted them based on perceived similarities and rated their importance. The data was then analyzed using multidimensional scaling (MDS) and hierarchical cluster analysis. The analysis revealed that breast cancer survivors' MBAT experiences could be understood within a two-dimensional framework: 'Internal Personal Experience – External Expanding Experience' and 'Cognitive Response – Emotional Response.' Four distinct clusters emerged: 'Self-exploration and Understanding,' 'Positive Emotional Experience,' 'Museum Space Experience,' and 'Comfort and Healing Experience in Cancer Treatment.' These clusters reflected distinct dimensions of participants' therapeutic experiences and their interrelationships. In the importance ratings, 'Positive Emotional Experience' was identified as the most significant cluster, followed by 'Comfort and Healing Experience in Cancer Treatment,' 'Self-exploration and Understanding,' and 'Museum Space Experience.' These findings suggest that MBAT may be particularly effective in enhancing emotional well-being among breast cancer survivors. This study provides an empirical foundation for developing MBAT programs by systematically identifying the content and importance of experiences of breast cancer survivors in museum-based therapeutic settings. Furthermore, it demonstrates the potential of public cultural spaces as therapeutic environments, supporting the expansion of art therapy into social prescription practices. These findings contribute to shaping new directions for integrative approaches in cancer care.

본 연구는 개념도 연구를 통해 유방암 생존자가 뮤지엄 미술치료에서 경험하는 요소를 탐색하고, 심리·사회적 중재로서 뮤지엄 미술치료가 지니는 치료적 가치를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 유방암 생존자 8명을 대상으로 수용 미학적 전시 감상, 창작 활동, 이야기 나누기로 구성된 뮤지엄 미술치료 프로그램을 시행하였다. 이후 심층 면담을 통해 68개의 핵심 진술문을 도출하였고, 연구 참여자들은 진술문을 분류하고 중요도를 평정하였다. 연구 자는 이 데이터를 토대로 다차원 척도법과 계층적 군집 분석을 통해 개념도를 도출하였다. 그 결과, 유방암 생존자 의 뮤지엄 미술치료 경험은 ‘개인 내적 경험-외적 확장 경험’, ‘인지적 반응-정서적 반응’이라는 2개의 차원과 ‘자기 탐색과 이해’, ‘긍정적 정서 경험’, ‘미술관 공간의 경험’, ‘투병 생활의 위로와 치유의 경험’이라는 4개의 군집으로 구성되었다. 이 가운데 ‘긍정적 정서 경험’ 군집이 가장 높은 중요도를 보여, 뮤지엄 미술치료가 정서적 치유의 매개로서 기능함을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 유방암 생존자의 경험을 통해 뮤지엄 미술치료의 임상적 활용 가능성과 사회적 처방으로서의 확장 가능성을 실증적으로 제시하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
