This study investigates the relationship between privacy concerns and technology acceptance in a rapidly evolving media environment, with a particular focus on the mediating role of media literacy. As the significance of media literacy continues to grow, this research aims to examine its influence and provide relevant policy implications. To achieve this, data from the Media Panel Survey conducted by the Korea Information Society Development Institute (KISDI) were utilized, and the relationships among key variables were analyzed using structural equation modeling. The main findings are as follows. First, privacy concerns positively influence technology acceptance, suggesting that the adoption of various technologies for the protection of personal information and privacy is likely to be well received. Second, privacy concerns also have a positive effect on media literacy, indicating that in a complex media environment, privacy awareness can lead to proactive and engaged use of technology and media. Third, media literacy fully mediates the relationship between privacy concerns and technology acceptance. The acceptance of new technologies aimed at enhancing privacy may become more widespread when accompanied by media literacy education. Given the positive impact of media literacy on technology acceptance, it is essential to provide diverse media literacy education not only in schools but also in other sectors. A more effective strategy would involve assessing media literacy levels by age group and delivering tailored educational programs accordingly.

본 연구는 급격히 변화하는 미디어 환경 속에서 프라이버시 침해 우려가 기술 수용에 미치는 영향 관계를 미디어 리터러시의 매개효과를 중심으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 미디어 리터러시의 중요성이 커지고 있는 미디어 환경 속에서 미디어 리터러시의 영향력을 살펴보고 정책적 함의점을 제공하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위해 정보통신정책연구원의 미디어패널조사를 활용하였고 구조방정식을 통해서 주요 변수 간 영향관계를 고찰하였다. 주요 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 프라이버시 침해 우려가 기술수용도에 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 개인정보 및 프라이버시 보호를 위한 다양한 기술의 도입은 긍정적으로 수용될 수 있을 것으 로 기대된다. 둘째, 프라이버시 침해 우려는 미디어 리터러시에도 긍정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 복잡한 미디어 환경에서 프라이버시 침해 우려가 적극 적이고 능동적인 기술 또는 미디어 수용으로 나타난다고 볼 수 있다. 셋째, 미디어 리터러시는 프라이버시 침해 우려와 기술수용도를 완전 매개하는 효과가 나타났 다. 개인정보 보호 또는 프라이버시 보호를 위한 새로운 기술 도입은 미디어 리터러시 교육과 병행된다면, 더 대중적으로 수용될 수 있을 것이다. 미디어 리터러시 가 기술수용에 긍정적인 영향을 주기 때문에 학교는 물론이고 다른 영역에서도 다양한 미디어 리터러시 교육의 제공이 필요해 보인다. 연령대에 따른 미디어 리터 러시 점수를 검토하고 맞춤형 미디어 리터러시 교육을 제공하는 전략이 보다 효과적일 것이다.
