This study empirically examined how self-determined learning motivation influences learning efficiency among learners using AI-based educational platforms, and whether metacognition and self-directed learning ability mediate this relationship. The analysis revealed that two subcomponents of self-determined motivation identified regulation and intrinsic motivation both had significant positive effects on enhancing metacognition and self-directed learning ability. In particular, intrinsic motivation was found to be a key factor in promoting learners' active engagement and continuous growth across the planning, execution, and evaluation phases of learning. Additionally, both identified regulation and intrinsic motivation significantly contributed to improving learning efficiency, suggesting that motivation grounded in autonomy and meaningfulness ultimately enhances learning outcomes. Mediation analysis showed that learners with higher levels of self-determined motivation developed stronger abilities to monitor and adjust their learning strategies and processes, which in turn led to increased learning efficiency. Self-directed learning ability also demonstrated a significant mediating effect. Learners with higher self-determined motivation exhibited greater self-direction, which indirectly contributed to enhanced learning efficiency. These findings highlight that learning becomes more effective when learners take control of and actively participate in their learning processes.The results suggest that in order to foster learners’ self-directed learning attitudes and to create a more autonomous and immersive learning environment, AI educational platforms should be designed to include features such as goal-setting support, feedback provision, and self-assessment tools.

본 연구는 AI 기반 교육 플랫폼을 활용하는 학습자를 대상으로, 자기결정성 학습동기가 학습효율성에 미치는 영향을 분석하고, 이 과정에서 메타인지와 자기주 도적 학습능력이 매개 역할을 수행하는 지를 실증적으로 검토하였다. 분석 결과, 자기결정성 학습동기의 하위 요인인 동일시 조절과 내재적 동기는 모두 메타인지 와 자기주도적 학습능력 향상에 유의한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 내재적 동기는 학습의 계획, 실행, 평가 전반에 걸쳐 학습자의 능동적 참여와 지 속적인 성장을 촉진하는 핵심 요인으로 작용하였다. 또한 동일시 조절과 내재적 동기는 학습효율성을 높이는 데도 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 이는 자율성과 의미를 기반으로 한 학습동기가 결과적으로 학습성과를 향상시킨다는 점을 시사한다. 메타인지의 매개효과 분석에서는, 자기결정성 학습동기가 높은 학습자일수록 자신 의 학습 전략과 과정을 점검하고 조정하는 능력이 향상되며, 이는 결과적으로 학습효율성의 증대로 이어지는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 자기주도적 학습능력 역시 유 의미한 매개 효과를 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 자기결정성 학습동기가 높을수록 학습자의 자기주도성이 강화되며, 이로 인해 학습효율성 또한 간접적으로 증대되는 구조가 확인되었다. 이는 학습자가 학습 과정을 스스로 조절하고 주도적으로 참여할 때 학습 효과가 극대화될 수 있음을 보여준다. 본 연구 결과는 학습자의 자기 주도적 학습 태도를 함양하고 자율적이며 몰입도 높은 학습 환경을 조성하기 위해, AI 교육 플랫폼 설계 시 학습 목표 설정 지원, 피드백 제공, 자기 점검 도구 등의 기능을 포함하는 것이 중요하다는 시사점을 제시한다.
