The purpose of this study was to verify how emotional and physical conflicts of the family affect life satisfaction for the elderly and whether self-esteem mediates the relationship between them. For this purpose, this study used data from the 16th year of the Korean Welfare Panel (2022) jointly surveyed and distributed by Seoul National University and the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs. The hierarchical regression analysis method of SPSS was used to verify the mediating effect. As a result of the study, first, it was found that emotional and physical conflicts of the family had a negative (-) effect on the life satisfaction of the elderly. Second, emotional conflicts in the family were found to have a negative (-) effect on the elderly’s self-esteem, while physical conflicts in the family did not affect the elderly's self-esteem of the elderly. Third, it was verified that self-esteem mediates the emotional conflict and life satisfaction of the elderly's family, while self-esteem did not mediate the physical conflict and life satisfaction of the elderly’s family. Based on these findings, this study discussed and suggested implications for reducing emotional conflict and improving self-esteem of the elderly's families to increase their life satisfaction.

본 연구는 노인을 대상으로 가족의 정서적·신체적 갈등이 생활만족도에 어떠한 영향 이 있는지와 자아존중감은 이들 간의 관계를 매개하는지를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하 였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 서울대학교와 한국보건사회연구원이 공동으로 조사·배포한 한국복지패널 16차년도(2022년) 자료를 활용하였다. 매개효과 검증은 SPSS의 위계적 회귀분석방법을 사용하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 가족의 정서적 갈등과 신체적 갈등은 노 인의 생활만족도에 부적(-) 영향이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 가족의 정서적 갈등은 노인의 자아존중감에 부적(-) 영향이 있는 것으로 나타난 반면, 가족의 신체적 갈등은 노인의 자아존중감에 영향이 없는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 자아존중감은 노인의 가족 의 정서적 갈등과 생활만족도 간을 매개하는 반면, 가족의 신체적 갈등과 생활만족도 간은 매개하지 않는 것을 검증하였다. 이러한 연구결과를 토대로 하여, 본 연구는 노인 의 가족의 정서적 갈등의 낮춤과 자아존중감의 향상을 통해 그들이 생활만족도를 높일 수 있도록 논의하고 함의를 제언하였다.
