This study aims to analyze the impact of urban development factors surrounding the Suwon Convention Center on city image and residential intention. The results revealed that some urban development factors had significant effects on city image, which in turn significantly influenced residential intention. City image was found to partially mediate the relationship between urban development factors and residential intention, while the moderating effect of residential area was not statistically significant. This study suggests that although exhibition and convention centers can contribute to the creation of aesthetic and cultural urban environments, their role as mere symbolic structures has limitations in enhancing residents’ residential intention. These findings offer practical implications for urban development and local policy planning.

본 연구는 수원컨벤션센터를 중심으로 전시컨벤션센터 기반 도시형성요인이 도시이 미지와 정주의식에 미치는 영향을 분석하고자 하였다. 도시형성요인은 랜드마크·상징 성, 지역갱신·도시성, 엔터테인먼트·유희성, 문화예술·심미성의 네 가지 요인으로 구성하였으며, 도시이미지를 매개변수로, 정주의식을 종속변수로 설정하였다. 또한 거 주지역을 조절변수로 설정하여 지역에 따른 차이를 분석하였다. 수원컨벤션센터 방문객을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로 다중회귀분석 및 매개·조절효과 검증을 수행한 결과, 도시형성요인 중 일부 요인은 도시이미지에 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며, 도시이미지는 정주의식에 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타 났다. 또한 도시이미지는 도시형성요인과 정주의식 간의 관계에서 부분 매개효과를 보 였으며, 거주지역에 따른 조절효과는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 전시컨벤션센터가 심미적·문화적 환경 조성에는 기여할 수 있지만, 단순 한 상징적 구조물로서의 기능만으로는 지역 주민의 정주의식 향상에 한계가 있음을 시 사한다. 이는 도시개발 및 지역정책 수립에 실질적인 시사점을 제공한다.
