The study aimed to investigate the effects of health beliefs, depression, and social support on health-promoting behaviors among prison inmates. The participants were 167 male inmates aged 40 and older, incarcerated in a correctional facility located in C City. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire between May 10 and August 30, 2022. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical regression analysis, utilizing the SPSS WIN 23.0 program. The results showed that factors influencing inmates' health-promoting behaviors included perceived barriers and social support. As social support was identified as the most influential factor affecting health-promoting behaviors among inmates, it is necessary to strengthen support through the formation of positive relationships with family members, fellow inmates, and correctional facility staff. Additionally, establishing and activating a social support system within correctional facilities is essential. In addition, it is important to identify the perceived barriers among inmates and to make efforts to improve environmental and institutional obstacles based on these insights.

본 연구의 목적은 교정시설 수용자의 건강신념, 우울, 사회적 지지가 건강증진 행위에 미치는 영향을 규명하는 것이다. 연구대상은 경상남도 C시에 위치한 교 도소에 수감 중인 40세 이상 남성 재소자 167명이며, 2022년 5월 10일부터 8월 30일까지 구조화된 설문을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS WIN 23.0 프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, 독립표본 t-검정, 일원배치 분산분석, Pearson 상관계수, 다중회귀분석을 실시하여 분석하였다. 연구결과, 수용자의 건 강증진행위에 영향을 미치는 요인은 지각된 장애성(β=-.21, p=.006), 거주실 유형(β=.19, p=.006), 사회적 지지(β=.23, p=.006)로 나타났으며, 이들 변수의 설명력은 33.6%였다. 이는 교정시설 수용자의 건강증진행위를 향상시키기 위해 개인의 건 강신념뿐만 아니라 환경적 및 사회적 요인도 중요한 역할을 한다는 점을 시사한 다. 따라서 수용자들이 가족, 동료 수용자, 직원 등으로부터 지지를 받고, 긍정적 인 상호작용을 촉진할 수 있는 프로그램이 마련될 필요가 있다. 또한 교정시설 내 건강관리를 저해하는 요인을 개선하고, 거주 유형에 따른 맞춤형 건강관리 전 략을 수립하는 것이 중요하다.
