Pastor Han Kyung-jik is considered the most respected, prestigious, and influential figure in the 140-year history of the Korean church. However, the evaluation of Pastor Han Kyung-jik is largely divided due to the ideological conflict and division in the Korean church and society. This paper aims to examine the characteristics of Pastor Han Kyung-jik’s ministry, faith, and theology as objectively as possible, rather than evaluating him based on ideological logic. This paper is a study on the relationship between the church and the state as shown in Han Kyung-jik’s theory of state construction. Although this topic is a very traditional one in the field of church history studies, there has not yet been a study published on the relationship between the church and the state as expressed in the faith and theology of Pastor Han Kyung-jik. Therefore, this paper aims to deal with Pastor Han Kyung-jik’s theory of nation-building and the relationship between the church and the state. To this end, this paper first aims to organize the research results to date on Pastor Han Kyung-jik’s theory of State construction. Secondly, I would like to deal with the ecclesiology and the state theory that appear in the theology of Pastor Han Kyung-jik. Thirdly, I would like to analyze the relationship between the church and the state from a theological perspective, and finally, I would like to organize criticisms on the socio-political ethics that appear in the theory of State construction and the relationship between the church and the state.

한경직 목사는 한국교회 140년의 역사 가운데 가장 존경받고 명망이 있으며, 한국교회에 가장 영향력을 많이 끼친 인물로 평가된다. 그러나 한경직 목사에 관한 평가는 한국교회와 사회의 이념적 갈등과 분열의 영향으로 크게 양분되어 있다. 본 논문은 한경직 목사에 대하여 진영논리에 입각한 평가보다는 그의 목회와 신앙 그리고 신학에 나타난 특징을가능한 한 객관적으로 살펴보고자 한다. 본 논문은 한경직의 국가건설론에 나타난 교회와국가의 관계에 관한 연구이다. 이 주제는 교회사 연구분야 가운데 매우 전통적인 주제임에도 불구하고, 아직 한경직 목사의 신앙과 신학에 나타난 교회론과 국가론 그리고 교회와국가의 관계에 관한 연구는 발표되지 않았다. 그러므로 본 논문은 한경직 목사의 국가건설론과 그에 나타난 교회와 국가의 관계를 다루고자 한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 먼저 한경직목사의 국가건설론을 지금까지 연구성과물들을 중심으로 정리하고자 한다. 둘째로는 한경직 목사의 신학에 나타난 교회론과 국가론을 다루고자 한다. 셋째로는 교회와 국가의 관계를 신학적 차원에서 분석하고, 국가건설론과 교회와 국가의 관계에 나타난 사회정치윤리에관한 비판들을 정리하였다.
