In the 21st-century digital era, performing arts are rapidly evolving through integration with video media. In particular, contemporary theater increasingly incorporates video as a central medium, moving beyond traditional stage formats and narrative structures. This study examines how such integration is realized in the play Belladonna, focusing on the ways video media interact organically with theatrical elements. Belladonna employs an intermedial approach, connecting video and live performance to construct fluid spatiotemporal transitions and multilayered narrative structures. Moreover, video functions as a device that enhances symbolic expression, evokes emotional immersion, and invites interpretive participation from the audience. By analyzing Belladonna as a creative case study, this research explores the potential of video media to extend theatrical expression and aims to contribute to future discourse in performance creation and theory.

21세기 디지털 시대의 공연예술은 영상미디어와의 융합을 통해 빠르게 진화하고 있다. 특히 연극 분야에서는 영상의 적극적인 활용이 전통적인 무대 형식과 서사 구조 를 넘어서는 새로운 표현 방식을 가능하게 하며, 영상은 극의 구성과 의미 전달에 있 어 핵심 매체로 자리잡고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 변화의 흐름 속에서 연극 <벨라도 나>의 사례를 중심으로, 영상미디어가 연극과 어떻게 유기적으로 결합되는지를 고찰 하였다. <벨라도나>는 인터미디어적 연출 방식을 바탕으로, 영상과 배우의 연기를 유 기적으로 연결하며 시공간의 유동성과 서사의 다층성을 구현하였다. 또한 영상은 상 징성과 은유를 강화하고 관객의 감각적 몰입과 해석적 참여를 유도하는 장치로 활용 되었다. 본 연구는 <벨라도나>를 하나의 창작 사례로 삼아, 영상미디어를 활용한 연극적 표현 확장의 가능성을 모색하고자 하였으며, 향후 공연예술의 창작과 이론 연구에 기초적인 논의로 작용할 수 있기를 기대한다.
