In this study, we developed evaluation indicators to uncover the value of private gardens as public goods and provide supporting evidence, with the aim of proposing measures for private gardens to function as public goods and establishing policies to foster and support them. As a result, it was found that assessing private gardens requires evaluating their ecological, social, and environmental values, as well as conducting a comprehensive assessment of sustainability. Furthermore, through AHP analysis, we examined the value framework of private gardens and were able to develop indicators to evaluate their worth. In addition, analysis of overseas cases showed that although private gardens are voluntarily established by the private sector, active support from the public sector is necessary for their revitalization, and private gardens are utilized as tourism resources that contribute to regional development.

본 연구에서는 민간정원의 공공재로서의 가치발굴 및 근거제시를 위한 평가지표를 개발하여, 민간정원이 공공 재가 되기 위한 방안을 제시하고, 민간정원의 육성 및 지원정책 수립하는 것을 목적으로 연구를 진행하였다. 그 결과, 우리는 민간정원을 평가하기 위해서는 민간정원이 가지고 있는 생태적가치, 사회적가치, 환경적가치에 대하여 평가할 수 있어야 하는 것에 대하여 밝혔으며, 지속가능성에 대한 평가를 복합적으로 평가할 필요가 있다는 것을 알 수 있엇 다. 그리고, AHP분석을 통해 민간정원의 가치에 대한 체계를 분석함으로써, 민간정원의 가치를 평가할 수 있는 지표 를 개발할 수 있었다. 또한, 해외사례분석의 결과, 민간정원은 자발성을 가지고 민간에서 조성하고 있지만, 활성화를 위해서는 공공에서의 적극적인 지원이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있었고, 민간정원은 지역관광의 자원으로 활용되고 있 어, 지역활성화에 기여하고 있다는 것이 파악되었다.
