This study examines how Nguyen Ngoc Tu’s 『The Endless Field』 departs from the conventional narrative framework of socialist realism, aiming to explore the literary significance of the work. While the novel addresses themes such as poverty, deprivation, nomadic life, and alienation from civilization in Vietnamese society, it does not directly invoke class contradictions or propose an optimistic vision aligned with socialist ideology. Instead, it adopts narrative strategies that move away from the class-centered structures demanded by socialist realism, focusing instead on the complexity of human affect and the potential for relational recovery. This paper explores the novel in three analytical aspects. First, it connects sexual and moral issues not to class structure but to patriarchal violence, thereby revealing the disintegration of femininity and family. Second, the form of nomadic diasporic life functions not as a passive escape from class exploitation, but as a mechanism for affective growth and the recovery of humanity. Third, even within the repetition of a powerless daily life, the siblings’ process of becoming-other dismantles a violent world and suggests a new genealogical narrative. Through these post-typical narrative strategies, the novel opens up new literary possibilities beyond the limits of traditional socialist realism.

본 연구는 응웬옥뜨의 『끝없는 벌판』이 사회주의 리얼리즘의 전형적 서사 구조에서 어떻게 벗어나는지를 중심으로, 이 작품의 문학적 의의를 고 찰하고자 한다. 『끝없는 벌판』은 베트남 사회의 가난과 결핍, 유목적 디아 스포라의 삶, 문명으로부터의 소외라는 주제를 다루면서도, 계급 현실의 모순을 직접 환기하거나 사회주의 이념의 낙관적 전망을 제시하지 않는다. 특히 이 작품은 사회주의 리얼리즘이 요구하는 계급 중심의 서사 구조로 환원하지 않고 인간 내면의 복합성과 정동의 흐름, 그리고 관계 회복의 가능성에 주목하는 서사 전략을 보여준다. 본고는 세 가지 분석 축을 통해 이 작품을 살펴보았다. 첫째, 성적 윤리적 문제를 계급 구조 보다는 가부장제 의 폭력성과 연결시켜 여성성과 가족의 해체 문제를 드러낸다. 둘째, 유목 적 디아스포라의 삶의 형식은 계급적 착취구조에 의한 수동적 도피가 아 닌, 정동적 성장과 인간성 회복의 장치로 기능한다. 셋째, 반복되는 무기력 한 일상 속에서도 남매가 타자-되기를 통해 폭력적 세계를 해체하고 새로 운 세대의 계보를 예고함으로써, 기존 사회주의 리얼리즘이 제시하지 못한 문학적 가능성을 제시한다.
