This study analyzed the life experiences of 9-year-old Vietnamese child who experienced the Vietnam War through a Narrative Inquiry method. Through this study, first, it examines how the memories of the Vietnam War experienced in childhood remain until now as an adult, second, it highlights the roles and responsibilities of family members in the extreme environment of war, and third, it examines the life of overcoming the trauma left by the war in the present and future time in the way of participants. Unlike papers studied from the perspective of soldiers who participated in the Vietnam War, it was intended to convey the violence of war by retelling the "war" that from ordinary child’s memory. Moreover, it was an opportunity to understand the value and meaning of individual's "experiences" and to realize “reliving” as a researcher.

본 연구는 베트남전쟁을 경험한 9살 난 베트남 아동의 삶의 경험을 내러 티브 탐구 방법으로 분석하였다. 본 연구를 통해 첫째, 유년기에 경험한 베 트남전쟁의 기억이 성인이 된 지금까지의 어떻게 남아있는지에 대해 고찰 하고 둘째, 전쟁이라는 극한 환경 속에 가족 구성원의 역할과 책임을 조명 해 보고 셋째, 전쟁이 남긴 트라우마를 과거에 두지 않고 현재 그리고 미래 의 시간으로 참여자 방식대로 극복해 나가는 삶을 통합적으로 들여다보았다. 기존의 베트남전쟁에 참여했던 군인들의 시각으로 연구된 논문들과는 다르게 평범한 아이가 기억하는 “전쟁”을 다시 말하기(Retelling) 하면서 전 쟁의 폭력성을 전달하고자 하였다. 더욱이 참여자 개인의 “경험”이 전달하 는 가치와 의미를 이해하며 연구자로서 다시 살기( Reliving)를 깨닫는 기회였다.
