This study investigated pre-service teachers’ experiences and understanding related to SW education in 2017 and AI education in 2024, and analyzed the results. Specifically, this study examined the current status of elementary pre-service teachers programming level, level of ICT utilization, programming learning experiences, understanding of SW(AI) curriculum, and understanding of SW(AI) educational effects. First, the percentage of pre-service teachers who evaluated both the level of programming and ICT utilization as good or very good was increased in 2024 than in 2017. However, since the percentage of respondents who answered that they are very good or good at their level is low, an educational program should be prepared to increase the level of programming and ICT utilization skills. Meanwhile, responses in 2024 were found to be more positive than responses in 2017 in relation to 'programming learning experience’, 'understanding of the curriculum’, and 'understanding of educational effect’. As a result of conducting a T-test to determine whether there was a difference in the responses of the two surveys, it was found that there was a significant difference between the responses to the two surveys for all questions except two questions related to 'understanding of the curriculum’. In terms of the 'understanding of the contents system of the curriculum’ and the 'understanding of the evaluation method’, there was no significant difference found between the two surveys, and the response level was very low compared to the responses to other questions. Therefore efforts should be made to help pre-service teachers understand them.
