This study describes a class case that combines Korean language and integrated subjects for second graders in elementary school using Novel Engineering. In order to foster talent required by the 2015 revised curriculum and the 2022 revised curriculum, Novel Engineering was applied to design classes to enhance reading skills, problem- solving skills, and engineering creativity. After reading a book related to Roadkill, I designed and realized a safe road for everyone in each group. After making the work, I did activities to reconstruct the story based on this. Compared to existing reading education, students' immersion increased in reading education applying Novel Engineering education methods, improving reading skills. In addition, meaningful communication opportunities have increased, and through this, various solutions have been explored and problem-solving skills have been developed. In the process of realizing what was designed, students' imagination was exercised, increasing engineering creativity.

본 연구는 Novel Engineering을 활용하여 초등학교 2학년을 대상으로 국어 교과와 통합교과를 융합한 수업사 례를 기술한다. 2015 개정 교육과정과 2022 개정 교육과정에서 요구하는 인재 양성을 위해 Novel Engineering을 적용하여 독서 능력, 문제 해결력, 공학 창의성을 높이는 수업을 설계하였다. 로드킬과 관련된 책을 읽고 모둠별 로 모두에게 안전한 도로를 설계하고 실현해보았다. 작품을 만든 뒤 이를 바탕으로 이야기를 재구성하는 활동을 하였다. 기존 독서 교육과 비교하여 Novel Engineering 교육 방법을 적용한 독서 교육에서 학생들의 몰입도가 높아져 독서 능력이 향상되었다. 또한, 의미 있는 의사소통 기회가 늘어나 이를 통해 다양한 해결 방안을 탐구하 며 문제 해결력을 길렀다. 설계한 것을 실현하는 과정에서 학생들의 상상력이 발휘되어 공학 창의성이 높아졌다.
