Korea has a growing number of multicultural students, but many of them have difficulty adjusting to school life and experience problems due to cultural clashes. The main cause of these problems is language difficulties, which the government has various programs to improve. However, due to limited resources and the nature of multicultural families, a more efficient alternative is needed. Generative AI such as ChatGPT is a realistic alternative. Existing language dictionaries and internet searches are inaccessible to multicultural students due to language barriers, and chatbot AIs on the market are mainly focused on English language learning and provide only limited answers based on pre-entered values, making it difficult to respond to learners' diverse questions. However, ChatGPT, a generative AI, can come up with various questions according to learners' questions and provide individualized feedback on learners' answers. This allows learners to interact with ChatGPT not only to explore the meaning of words, but also to converse at their own level and understand social context and idioms. This use of ChatGPT will help multicultural students learn Korean more easily and quickly. Therefore, it is necessary to develop methods for teaching Korean to multicultural students using ChatGPT.
