This study aims to describe a class case in which the Novel Engineering (NE) class model is applied to 10 elementary school students in the 3rd to 5th grade who are participating in the ‘AI Coding’ class of an after-school village school. To implement NE, after reading a book related to water pollution called 'It's because of dirty water' with students participating in coding class after school, students take the lead in thinking and realizing solutions to environmental problems. , and coding classes are significant in improving creative convergence ability and computational thinking ability, but the convergence of NE and coding classes can improve problem-solving ability through cooperation and engineering creativity to create and code engineering structures with various materials. It is expected that it will be more helpful in fostering creative convergence talents.

본 연구는 방과후 마을학교의 ‘ ‘AI 코딩’ 수업에 참여하고 있는 10명의 초등학생 3~5학년을 대상으로 Novel Engineering(NE) 수업 모형을 적용한 수업 사례를 기술하고자 한다. NE를 실시하기 위해 ‘더러운 물 때문이야’ 라는 수질오염에 관련된 책을 방과후 코딩 수업에 참여하고 있는 학생들과 함께 읽어 본 후 환경 문제를 해결하 기 위하여 학생들이 주도적으로 생각해 보고 실현해 보는 총 8 차시의 수업을 진행하였으며, 코딩수업이 창의융 합능력과 컴퓨팅사고력 향상에 유의미하지만, NE와 코딩수업의 융합은 협력을 통한 문제해결력과 여러 가지 재 료들로 공학적 구조물을 만들고 코딩화 시켜보는 공학 창의성을 향상시킬 수 있어 창의융합인재 양성에 더욱 도 움이 되리라 예상한다.
