This study uses Novel Engineering to describe class cases that combine social studies, practical course and Korean language subjects in the 6nd grade. The book "Grandmother's Palace of Sea Kings Trip" was selected first. The students read books and looked up the problem situations the fish were facing. Also, after survey the global environmental problem like this problem, students thought of a solution to solve the problem facing fish. Students made the solution of the group with robots. Presenting robots made by groups to other friends, the students also thought about other solutions. Finally, students wrote a story by imagining how the story would have been different if robots made in a group were used in a problem situation facing fish. Students wrote by applying robots made by the group into the story, they completed a much more fun and creative story.

본 연구는 Novel Engineering을 활용하여 초등 6학년 사회, 실과, 국어 교과를 융합한 수업사례를 기술한다. “할머니의 용궁 여행”이라는 책을 우선 선정하였다. 학생들은 책을 읽으며 물고기들이 처한 문제 상황을 찾아보 았다. 또한 이 문제처럼 지구촌 환경 문제를 조사하여 본 후, 물고기들이 처한 문제를 해결하기 위한 해결 방법 을 생각해보았다. 모둠의 해결 방법을 로봇으로 직접 만들어보았다. 모둠별로 만든 로봇을 다른 친구들에게 발표 하며, 학생들은 다른 해결 방법에 대해서도 생각해보았다. 마지막으로는 물고기가 마주한 문제 상황에서 모둠에 서 만든 로봇을 사용했다면 이야기가 어떻게 달라졌을지 상상하여 글을 써보았다. 학생들은 모둠끼리 고민하여 만든 로봇을 이야기 속에 녹여내어 글을 쓰다 보니, 훨씬 재미있고 창의적인 이야기를 완성하였다.
