This paper examines the development process and current status of female police officers in Korea, analyzes the current job distribution and position within the organization, and then forecasts the future prospects and institutional tasks for female police officers. Female police officers have been gradually increasing their weight in the male-dominated police organization, but they are still criticized for being limited in promotion opportunities and key position assignments. Ahead of the integrated recruitment of male and female police officers to be implemented starting in 2026, various opinions are being expressed within the police organization, and it is predicted that the discriminatory power will decrease and the written test scores will increase due to the change from a score system to a passing system through a circular physical fitness test. In response, male police officers and test takers are also criticizing reverse discrimination. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the institutional improvement and prospects according to the quantitative increase in female police officers and the environmental changes in the police organization in the future.

본 논문은 한국 여성 경찰의 발전 과정과 현황을 고 찰하고, 현재의 직무분포 및 조직 내의 위치를 분석한 후 향후 여성 경찰에 대한 전망과 제도적 과제를 전망 하고자 한다, 여성 경찰은 그동안 남성 중심의 경찰 조직 내에서 점차 비중을 확대하고 있으나 승진 기회 나 주요 보직 배치 등에서는 여전히 제한적이란 지적 을 받고 있다. 2026년부터 시행되는 경찰공무원 남녀 통합 채용 을 앞두고 경찰 조직 내에서 다양한 의견이 분출되고 있으며, 순환식 체력 측정 시험을 통해 점수제에서 통 과제로 변경됨으로 인해 변별력은 낮아지고 필기시험 점수는 높아질 것이라고 예측되고 있다. 이에 남성 경 찰 및 수험생들로부터 역차별이란 비판의 목소리도 제기되는 실정이다. 따라서 본 연구는 양적 증가하고 있는 여성경찰의 현황과 향후 경찰 조직의 환경변화 에 따른 제도적 개선 및 전망에 대해 고찰해 보고자 하였다.
