This study applies the ADDIE instructional design model to develop and implement a traditional cultural arts education program for children, based on the Chinese folktale Mulan. The purpose of the research is to explore how an integrated approach combining educational drama and traditional cultural education can enhance children's understanding of cultural heritage and foster emotional empathy. The program was structured around the five stages of the ADDIE model—Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation—and was implemented through a musical workshop designed for children. Adopting an arts-based action research methodology, the study engaged 15 elementary school students and collected qualitative data through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of educational journals. The findings indicate that reconstructing traditional folktales into modern educational content positively contributed to children's cultural identity formation, motivation for traditional cultural learning, and artistic expression. In particular, immersive and learner-centered drama activities effectively facilitated the internalization of cultural values and encouraged creative expression. Moreover, the cyclical application of the ADDIE model supported both systematic planning and flexible execution of the program. These results suggest that the integrated use of traditional culture and educational drama serves as an effective pedagogical strategy for promoting children's cultural understanding and artistic development.

본 연구는 중국 전통 설화인 ｢목란시(木蘭詩, 뮬란)｣를 기반으로 체계적 교육설 계 모형인 ADDIE 모형을 적용하여 어린이 대상 전통 문화예술교육 프로그램을 개발하고 실행하였다. 연구의 목적은 교육연극과 전통문화교육의 통합적 접근을 통해 어린이의 전통문화 이해와 정서적 공감 능력 향상을 모색하는 데 있다. 프로 그램 개발은 ADDIE 모형의 분석, 설계, 개발, 실행, 평가 단계를 적용하여 수행되 었으며, 실천 현장으로 어린이 교육뮤지컬인 ｢뮬란｣을 기획 및 진행하였다. 연구 방법은 예술기반 실행연구 방법론에 기초하여 중국의 초등학생 15명을 대 상으로 참여관찰, 심층면담, 교육일지를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 연구 결과, 전통 설화를 현대적 교육 콘텐츠로 재구성한 프로그램은 어린이의 문화적 정체성 형성 과 전통문화 학습 동기, 예술적 표현력 증진에 긍정적 효과를 보였다. 특히, 학습자 중심의 몰입형 연극 활동은 문화적 가치 내면화와 창의적 표현을 촉진하는 데 유 의미하게 작용하였다. 또한, ADDIE 모형의 순환적 적용은 프로그램 설계와 실행 과정의 체계성과 유연성을 확보하는 데 기여하였다. 이러한 연구 결과는 전통문화 교육과 교육연극의 통합적 접근이 어린이 전통문화 이해 증진과 예술적 발달을 위한 효과적 교육전략으로 활용될 수 있음을 시사한다.
