It is reported that about one third of married women are battered in Korea. Yet, domestic violence re-mains a “family secret”. This study examine some of the issues, dynamics, and interventions currently used in working with domestic violence. A thorough generational family assessment and intervention is sug-gested, because each family member has been affected and has issues to resolve before healthy relation-ships are possible. Further, a community coordinated treatment program bring together social worker, po-lice officers, and attorneys is suggested to provide quality care and intervention for domestic abuse families.

한국의 가정폭력 실태가 전체 가구의 15-30%에 이르는 등 심각한 수준에 이르고 있어 사회문제화 되고 있다. 이 논고에서는 아내구타에 관련된 이론적 관점을 요약하고, 아내구타문제를 해결하기 위한 개입방안을 구타당하는 여성과 그 자녀, 그리고 구타남편 차원으로 나누어 제시하였다. 아내구타의 문제는 구타당하는 아내의 문제를 넘어서 다세대 간에 문제를 야기 시키고, 전수되는 특징이 있기에 전 가족 구성원에 대한 개입이 필요하다. 또한 거시적 관점에서 아내구타 문제를 해결하고 예방하기 위한 방안으로 지역사회 연계방안과 정책적 대안의 개발을 제시하였다.
