This study explores structural factors that hinder learner engagement in online learning environments and analyzes them in terms of technical, emotional, and instructional design aspects. While online learning has advanced through AI-based adaptive systems and real-time feedback technologies, learner engagement and immersion remain insufficient. Focusing on technical failures, emotional isolation, and inadequate content design, this study draws on domestic and international cases to analyze how these factors negatively affect learner persistence. The findings suggest that enhancing the effectiveness of online learning requires not only technical reliability but also emotionally resonant interaction design and instructionally meaningful content that supports learners' flow and motivation.

본 연구는 온라인 학습 환경에서 학습자의 참여도를 저해하는 구조적 요인을 탐색하고, 이를 기술적, 정서적, 학습 설계 측면에서 분석하였다. 최근 온라인 학습은 AI 기반 맞춤형 시스템과 실시간 피드백 기술의 도입으로 고도화되고 있으나, 학습자의 참여와 몰입은 여전히 낮은 수준에 머물고 있다. 본 연구는 기술적 결함, 정서적 소외, 부적절한 콘텐 츠 설계가 학습자의 몰입과 지속성에 부정적 영향을 미친다는 점에 주목하고, 국내외 사례를 바탕으로 참여 저해 요인 의 구체적 양상을 비교‧분석하였다. 그 결과, 온라인 학습의 효과를 높이기 위해서는 기술적 안정성과 더불어 정서적 실재감 설계 및 학습 흐름에 적합한 콘텐츠 구성이 함께 고려되어야 함을 제안하였다.
