The purpose of this paper is to explore development strategies through a case study of barrier-free performances, focusing on accessibility to performing arts for persons with disabilities. The research methodology was conducted as qualitative research, including literature review and case studies, and the case study was focused on the Seoul Performing Arts Festival (SPAF). As a result of the analysis, SPAF provided various services for audiences with hearing and visual impairments, but there were some limitations in terms of physical and information accessibility, and the necessity of introducing disability arts from an inclusive perspective was raised. The development strategies for barrier-free performing arts are as follows. First, the need for a strategic approach to the application of barrier-free measures was raised. A step-by-step approach should be attempted to realize barrier-free performing arts by diversifying physical accessibility, aesthetic accessibility, and accessibility for different types of disabilities. Second, creating an environment for the production of barrier- free performances is important. It is necessary to establish a production environment where persons with and without disabilities can collaborate, and to create an environment in which performing arts can be viewed and produced from diverse perspectives through cooperation among various stakeholders, including collaboration with disabled artists. Third, the focus was placed on the sustainability of policy support for sustainable barrier-free performing arts. To produce sustainable barrier- free performances, policy support should not be a short term effort but should be carried out in the long term.

본 논문은 장애인의 공연예술 접근성을 중심으로 배리어프리 공연 사례연구를 통해 발전전 략을 모색하는 것을 연구의 목적으로 한다. 연구방법론은 질적 연구로서 문헌연구와 사례연 구로 진행하였으며, 서울국제공연예술제(SPAF) 중심으로 사례를 살펴보았다. 분석결과, 서 울국제공연예술제(SPAF)는 청각 및 시각 장애인 관객을 위한 다양한 서비스를 제공하였지 만, 물리적 접근성과 정보 접근성에서 일부 한계가 있었으며, 포용적 관점에서의 장애예술 도입의 필요성이 제기되었다. 이에 따른 공연예술 분야 배리어프리 발전전략 모색은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 배리어프리 적용을 위한 전략적 접근의 필요성이 제기되었다. 물리적 접근성과 미학적 접근성, 장애 유형별 접근성을 다각화하여 공연예술의 배리어프리 실현을 위한 단계 적인 접근을 시도하는 것이다. 둘째, 배리어프리 공연제작을 위한 환경 조성이 중요하다. 장 애인과 비장애인이 협력할 수 있는 물리적 제작 환경과 장애인 예술가와의 협업을 통한 여 러 이해관계자들의 협력과 지속적인 노력을 통해 공연예술을 다양한 시선으로 바라보고 제 작할 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 것이다. 셋째, 지속 가능한 배리어프리 공연예술을 위한 정책 적 지원의 지속성을 중점으로 보았다. 지속가능한 배리어프리 공연을 제작하기 위해서는 정 책적 지원이 단순 일회성이 아니라 장기적으로 이루어져야 할 것이다.
