This study aimed to understand care-receiving experiences of three elderly people with chronic diseases and to find ways to improve the quality of life of elderly people living at home. Data collected through in-depth interviews were analyzed as a qualitative case study. The analysis within the case described meanings that research participants attached to care, life experiences, and illnesses that might have influenced care, the impact of care interactions on perceptions of life, and the meaning of care among the sick elderly receiving care. The analysis between cases derived ‘the participants' meaning-making of care throughout their lives', 'diseases deepened by poverty and aging, and loneliness', 'repetition of conflict and acceptance, receiving care', and 'a life of contentment.'. This study is meaningful in that it thematizes the experience of receiving care for elderly people who use nursing care services at home, and present the complexity of care experiences from the perspective of the recipients. It suggests specific directions for supporting elderly care practices centered on main implications derived from results of this study.

본 연구는 만성질환 노인 3인의 돌봄 수혜경험을 이해하고, 이를 통해 재가 노인들의 삶의 질 향상을 위 한 방안을 모색하는 데 있다. 이를 위해 심층 인터뷰를 통해 수집된 자료를 질적 사례연구로 분석하였다. 사례내 분석에서는 연구참여자들의 돌봄에 부여하는 의미와 돌봄에 영향을 미친 생애와 병고. 그리고 돌봄 을 받는 아픈 노인들이 인식하는 삶과 돌봄의 의미에 돌봄 상호작용이 미친 영향을 기술하였다. 사례간 분 석에서는 각각의 개별 연구참여자 사례를 관통하며 나타나는 돌봄제공자와의 관계 경험의 의미들을 분석하 였고, 이를 통해 연구참여자들의 ‘생애와 이어지는 돌봄의 의미 짓기’, ‘빈곤과 노화로 깊어진 질병, 그리고 고독’, ‘갈등과 수용의 반복, 돌봄 받기’, ‘안분지족의 삶’이 도출되었다. 본 연구는 그동안 잘 다루지 않은 요양보호사 돌봄서비스를 이용하는 재가 노인들의 돌봄 수혜경험을 주제화시켜 당사자의 관점에서 돌봄 수 혜경험의 복잡성을 제시했다는 점에서 의미가 있다. 본 연구결과에서 도출된 주요 시사점을 중심으로 노인 돌봄실천 지원을 위한 구체적인 방안을 제시하였다.
