The purpose of this paper is to find a way to activate eSports by incorporating agenda-setting theory, one of the main theory of effect of media. It examined the nature of media coverage during the Hangzhou Asian Games in 2023, and analyzed emotions such as whether the public perceived eSports positively or negatively. In the case of media reports, before the opening of the competition, a general introduction of eSports and Lee Sang-hyuk, a major player in eSports, appeared as key keywords. During the competition, major medalists such as Lee Sang-hyuk and Kim Kwan-woo were mainly dealt with, including the League of Legends game, which is a major e-Sports event. After the competition, social issues such as military service special cases and military service benefits, as well as the settlement of the competition, were noted. Through emotional analysis, it was confirmed that the theory of agenda-setting effects that affect public perception through media reporting is also applied to eSports. In order to revitalize eSports, efforts such as actively using media, emphasizing positive factors, and building a differentiated story are needed.

본 논문은 미디어의 주요 효과 이론 중 하나인 의제설정 이론을 접목해 e스포츠를 어떻게 활성화할 수 있는지에 대 한 방안을 모색하는 데 목적이 있다. 2023년에 열린 항저우 아시안게임 기간 미디어 보도의 속성을 살펴보고, e스포 츠에 대한 대중들의 긍정‧부정 인식 여부 등 감성을 분석했다. 언론 보도의 경우, 대회 개막 전에는 e스포츠의 개괄적 인 소개, e스포츠 주요 선수인 이상혁이 주요 키워드로 나타났다. 대회 중에는 e스포츠 주요 종목인 리그 오브 레전 드 경기와 이상혁, 김관우 등 주요 메달리스트가 주요하게 다뤄졌다. 대회 후에는 대회 결산뿐 아니라 병역 특례, 병 역 혜택 등 사회적 이슈가 주목받았다. 감성 분석을 통해 미디어 보도로 대중의 인식에 영향을 미치는 의제설정 효과 이론이 e스포츠에서도 적용되는 점이 확인됐다. e스포츠의 활성화를 위해 미디어를 적극적으로 활용하고, 긍정적인 요소를 강조하면서, 차별화된 스토리를 구축하는 등의 노력이 필요하다.
