This study replicates the survey items from Saito (2008) and conducts a follow–up questionnaire in 2023 to examine changes in attitudes toward space and utensil sharing among young adults in Japan and Korea. The findings reveal that in Korea, there is a growing tendency to avoid sharing—even with close relations—particularly in the context of utensil use. In contrast, Japanese participants demonstrated relatively flexible attitudes toward space sharing, especially among women. In both countries, women consistently exhibited more cautious attitudes toward sharing than men, with Korean women showing particularly strong avoidance tendencies. These shifts cannot be explained by generational change alone; rather, they appear to reflect the combined influence of heightened hygiene awareness following the COVID–19 pandemic, the spread of individualistic values, and changes in daily lifestyles. Notably, a reversal was observed in the acceptance of space sharing within families between the two countries, suggesting an ongoing reconfiguration of cultural values surrounding privacy, autonomy, and cohabitation. Furthermore, the study confirms that space–sharing behavior is shaped not only by hygienic concerns or interpersonal closeness, but also by situational factors such as the purpose of stay, financial considerations, and the nature of the relationship. This research provides foundational insight into the evolving norms of sharing in East Asia and highlights the need for future studies to adopt a multidimensional perspective that incorporates socialization experiences and contextual variables in understanding the development of sharing attitudes.

본 연구는 齊藤(2008)의 조사항목을 바탕으로 2023년에 동일한 설문조사를 실시하여, 한일 양국 젊은 세대의 공간 및 용기 공유 의식의 변화를 비교 분석하였다. 그 결과, 한국에서는 가족이나 친구 등 가까운 관계에서도 공유를 회피하는 경향이 강화되 었으며, 특히 용기 공유에 대한 심리적 저항감이 두드러지게 증가하였다. 이에 반해 일본에서 는 공간 공유에 대해 상대와의 관계성에 따라 비교적 유연한 수용 태도가 유지되었으며, 특 히 여성에서 그 경향이 뚜렷하게 나타났다. 또한, 한일 양국 모두 여성은 남성보다 공유에 신중한 태도를 보였으며, 특히 한국 여성은 공유를 꺼리는 경향이 더욱 두드러지게 나타났다. 이러한 변화는 세대교체만으로는 설명이 어려우며, 코로나19 이후의 위생 의식 고양, 개인주의적 가치관의 확산, 생활양식의 변화 등 복합적 요인이 작용한 결과로 해석할 수 있다. 특히, 가족 간 공간 공유 허용도에서 한일 간 의 역전 현상이 나타난 점은 주목할 만하며, 이는 가족 내 사생활 존중, 개인의 독립성 및 공 동생활에 대한 인식 변화 등 사회문화적 배경 변화에 따른 가치관 재편 가능성을 시사한다.　 아울러, 공간 공유는 단순한 위생 인식이나 친밀도뿐 아니라 체류 목적, 경제적 요인, 관계의 성격 등 다양한 상황적 요소에 따라 달라질 수 있는 복합적인 행위임이 확인되었다. 본 연구는 이러한 공유 인식 변화가 실제 사회적 상호작용 및 대인행동과 어떻게 연결되 는지를 해명하기 위한 기초 자료로 제공 가능할 것이다. 향후에는 생활 배경과 사회화 경험 을 포괄한 다각적 접근을 통해, 공유 의식의 형성과 대인관계 행동 간의 관련성을 보다 정밀 하게 분석할 필요가 있다.
