This study explores the factors influencing destination choice of young adults migrating from Seoul Metropolitan Area (SMA) to non-metropolitan regions in South Korea, with a focus on the concept of lifestyle migration. Using competing destinations models (CDM), the research analyzes the global and local effects of lifestyle-related factors, such as accessibility to high-quality natural environments, on migration decisions. The study incorporates high-resolution spatial data at the smallest administrative level to improve analytical precision. Findings reveal that lifestyle-related factors do have significant effect on youth migration, alongside traditional considerations like employment opportunities and urban amenities. The spatial heterogeneity of these effects highlights the need for tailored regional policies to attract young populations. By bridging lifestyle migration theories with internal migration contexts, this study provides empirical insights for local governments aiming to counter regional population decline.

본 연구는 라이프스타일 이주의 관점에서 수도권에서 비수도권 지역으로 이주하는 청년들의 목적지 선택에 영향을 미치는 요인을 탐구한다. 목적지 경합 모형을 사용하여, 양질의 자연환경에 대한 접근성과 같은 라이프스타일 관련 요인의 전역적, 국지적 효과가 이주 결정에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석의 정밀성을 높이기 위해 가장 작은 행정단위인 읍면동 수준의 고해상도 공간 데이터를 활용하였다. 연구 결과, 고용 기회나 도시 편의시설과 같은 전통적인 이주 요인과 더불어 라이프스타일 관련 요인이 청년 지방 이주에서 중요한 흡인요인으로 작용하는 것으로 나타났다. 또, 이러한 영향력의 공간적 이질성이 존재함을 확인했으며, 이는 청년 인구를 유치하기 위한 지역별 맞춤형 정책의 필요성을 강조한다. 본 연구는 라이프스타일 이주 개념과 국내 청년 이동 관련 연구를 맥락적으로 연결함으로써 지역 인구 감소 문제와 관련해 지방자치단체 및 계획가를 위한 실증적 통찰을 제공한다.
