This study explores the collaborative experiences of performing arts students—future artists—based on an actual collaborative class in which a creative musical production was developed. The aim is to provide foundational data for collaborative education that reflects the integrative nature of performing arts and simulates real-world production environments. Throughout the process, participating students encountered internal confusion regarding their abilities and direction, influenced by the subjective standards inherent in creative work. They often defined themselves by the characteristics of their respective majors and experienced discomfort and difficulty arising from the “differences” of others. Although various communication systems were established to promote smooth interaction among different production teams and the overall team, these systems sometimes led to confusion and reduced communication efficiency. Nevertheless, the students made intentional efforts to listen and understand one another, striving to overcome differences through collaboration. They also sought objective insights and practical knowledge from mentors, professors, and senior students to better understand others and resolve challenges they faced. Through these experiences, the students came to define collaboration as: a process of building solidarity through mutual understanding, a means of enhancing efficiency and generating synergy through the division of roles, and an opportunity to develop both professional competencies and personal growth as future artists.

본 연구는 향후 예비예술인들인 공연 전공 학생들이 공연의 현장과 유사한 협업을 경험하며 공연의 종 합예술적인 성격을 교육할 수 있는 협업 수업의 기초자료가 되고자 실제 진행한 창작 뮤지컬 제작 협업 수업을 바탕으로 협업에 대한 예비예술인들의 경험을 탐구해보았다. 협업에 참여한 예비예술인들은 창 작과정의 주관적 기준에 의해 내적으로 자신의 역량과 방향성에 대해 혼란을 겪기도 하고, 전공별 특성 안에서 자신을 구분짓고, 그 차이로 인한 타인의 ‘다름’에서 불편함과 어려움을 느꼈다. 공연제작의 분야 별 팀원들 간의 소통은 물론 전체제작팀과의 긴밀한 의사소통을 위한 여러 의사소통체계를 개설하다 보 니 오히려 혼선을 빚어 소통의 효율성이 떨어지는 어려운 상황을 초래하기도 하였다. 그러나 예비예술인들은 ‘다름’을 용납하며 극복하고자 일하는 과정에서 의지를 가지고 경청하려 노력하 였고, 멘토링 교수나 선배 등 제3자를 통해 객관적 의견과 제작 관련 정보, 지식 등의 조언을 통해 타인을 이해하고, 직면한 상황과 문제를 해결하고자 하였다. 이러한 노력의 과정을 통해 예비예술인들은 협업 이란 첫째, 서로 이해하는 과정을 통해 공동체라는 연대를 깨닫는 과정, 둘째, 분담을 통해 효율성과 시 너지를 만들어 공연을 올리는 과정, 셋째, 예비예술인으로서 전공적 역량과 내면적인 성숙을 성취할 수 있는 기회가 되었다고 그 나름의 의미를 규정지었다.
