With the rise in international student enrollment, emotional and psychological maladjustment has become a growing concern, expanding the role of university staff who support them. However, discussions on the challenges faced by these staff members remain limited. This study aimed to analyze the experiences of international student advisors and propose effective support strategies. Using the Double Diamond model, data were collected through desk research, interviews, and surveys. Key difficulties were identified through keyword analysis and visualized using a Perjourney Map. Based on these insights, a tailored program was developed and implemented. After the program, a focus group interview and revised Perjourney Map revealed improvements in counseling confidence and crisis intervention skills. The program is expected to enhance the quality of student support and contribute to staff training efforts.

외국인 유학생의 증가와 함께 정서적·심리적 부적응 문제가 심화되면서, 이들을 지원하는 대학 담당자의 역할 또한 확대되고 있다. 그러나 담당자들이 실제로 경험하는 어려움과 지원 과정에서의 문제에 대한 논의는 여 전히 부족한 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 외국인 유학생 담당자의 실제 경험을 분석하고, 효과적인 지원 방안을 제 안하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 서비스 디자인 방법론의 더블 다이아몬드 모델을 적용하여 자료를 수집·분석하였으 며, ‘발견하기’ 단계에서는 데스크 리서치, 인터뷰, 설문조사를 실시하고, 수집된 자료를 빈도수 분석과 워드 클라 우드를 통해 핵심 단어를 도출한 뒤 주제 분석을 통해 주요 어려움을 범주화하였다. 이를 바탕으로 ‘정의하기’ 단 계에서는 도출된 내용을 시각화한 페르저니맵을 구성하였고, ‘개발하기’ 단계에서는 이를 기반으로 프로그램을 설 계하였다. ‘전달하기’ 단계에서는 프로그램을 제공한 후, 포커스 그룹 인터뷰를 통해 효과를 분석하고, 프로그램 이 후 변화된 내용을 반영한 새로운 페르저니맵을 구성하였다. 그 결과, 담당자의 실제 요구를 반영한 맞춤형 프로그 램을 개발함으로써 상담 및 위기 개입 역량이 향상되었고, 이는 외국인 유학생 지원의 질과 담당자 교육 체계 강 화에 긍정적 영향을 미칠 것으로 사료된다.
