This study examined the mediating effect of self-determination in the relationship between confirmation bias toward the elderly and critical thinking disposition among nursing students. A total of 120 fourth-year nursing students from a university in Gyeonggi Province participated in the survey. The results showed significant positive correlations among confirmation bias, self-determination, and critical thinking disposition. Confirmation bias and self-determination had a positive effect on critical thinking disposition, and self-determination partially mediated the relationship between confirmation bias and critical thinking. These findings suggest the need to reduce confirmation bias and enhance self-determination to improve nursing students’ critical thinking disposition.

본 연구는 간호대학생의 노인에 대한 확증편향과 비판적 사고성향 간의 관계에서 자기결정성의 매개효과 를 알아보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 경기도 소재 일개 대학의 간호학과 4학년 재학생 120명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하고, 응답이 완전한 120부를 최종 분석에 사용하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 확증편향, 자기결정성, 비판적 사고성향 간에 유의한 정적 상관이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 간호대학생의 확증편향과 자기결정성은 비판적 사고성향에 정적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 확증편향과 비판적 사고성향의 관계에서 자기결 정성이 부분매개 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구 결과를 통해 비판적 사고성향 향상을 위해서는 간호 대학생이 지각하는 노인에 대한 확증편향을 낮추고 자기결정성을 높일 수 있는 방안이 필요함을 시사하고 있다.
