This study aims to understand the conflicts experienced by non-athlete racket ball school sports club leaders and their efforts to overcome them. In order to achieve the research purpose, in-depth interviews were conducted through focus group interviews with two badminton leaders and one tennis leader who had more than five years of experience as a leader and more than seven years of sports instructor qualifications. The following results were obtained. First, the derived area is the beginning of non-athlete-turned-leaders, who talked about having negative psychological experiences due to the preconception from parents, school officials, and others that they would be inferior to athletes because they were non-athletes. However, they did not want to continue these feelings, and soon they acknowledged the differences between athletes and non-athletes and tried to become aware of themselves. Second, regarding the conflicts experienced as non-athlete coaches, they experienced psychological internal conflicts such as prejudices that can arise from being non-athletes during their careers as coaches, concerns about themselves, concerns about work, and an obsession to ‘do better.’ Lastly, the research participants were found to have made efforts and invested time in activities that could build their personal strength, educational capacity, and skills in order to overcome the conflicts experienced as non-athlete coaches.

본 연구는 비선수 출신 라켓구기 종목 학교 스포츠클럽 지도자가 경험한 갈등과 이를 극복하고자 한 노력에 대해 이해하고자 한 연구이다. 연구목적을 달성하기 위하여 지도자 경력 5년 이상, 스포츠 지도사 자격증을 취득한 지 7년 이상의 배드민턴 지도자 2명, 테니스 지도자 1명을 대상으로 초점 집단 인터뷰를 통해 심층 면담을 진행하여 다음과 같은 결과가 도출되었다. 첫째, 도출된 영역은 비선수 출신 지도자의 시작으로 이들은 학부모, 학교 관계자 및 타인으로부터 비선수 출신이기 때문에 선수 출신보다 부족할 것이라는 선입견으로 인해 심리적으로 부정적인 경험을 한 것으로 이야기 하였다. 그러나 이들은 이러한 감정들을 지속하지 않으려 하였고 이내 선수 출신과 비선수 출신 간의 차이를 인정하고 자신에 대해 자각하고자 한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 비선수 출신 지도자로서 경험한 갈등에 대해 지도자 생활 중 비선수 출신이라는 점에서 나타날 수 있는 편견과 자신에 대한 걱정, 일에 대한 걱정과 함께 ‘더 잘해야 한다’는 강박감과 같은 심리적 내적 갈등 경험을 한 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 연구 참여자들은 비선수 출신 지도자로서 경험한 갈등을 극복하 기 위해 개인의 내공, 교육적 역량을 다지고 실력을 겸비할 수 있는 활동에 노력을 기울이고 시간적 투자를 하는 것으로 나타났다.
