This study analyzes how much ESG education content elements are included in the 2022 revised social studies curriculum by deriving key content elements and topics in elementary, middle, and high school ESG education. ESG refers to environmental(E), social(S), and governance(G) and is widely used as an indicator of sustainability in organization, but there is still a lack of awareness of its importance in the educational field. However, ESG is a key driver that changes society in the future beyond simple corporate social responsibility, so it is necessary to cultivate ESG values through systematic education from childhood. Accordingly, by analyzing domestic and foreign prior studies, essential ESG education content elements to be dealt with in elementary, middle, and high schools were derived, and the 2022 revised social studies curriculum was analyzed to identify the reflection in actual education. As a result of the study, seven content elements such as global warming, sustainable energy, and biodiversity in the environmental area, five content elements such as respect for humans and solving social problems in the social area, and five content elements such as cooperative communication, inequality reduction, and entrepreneurship in the governance area were presented. As a result of the analysis of the 2022 revised social studies curriculum, it was found that achievement standards were concentrated in the social area, and the governance area was relatively neglected. Governance(G) plays a very important role in establishing transparency, accountability, and fairness in the decision- making process, so it must be strengthened for the sound development of future society. Therefore, changes are needed to expand the achievement standards related to governance(G) in the curriculum and develop related educational materials so that ESG education can be conducted in a balanced way.

본 연구는 초⋅중⋅고등학교 ESG교육에서의 핵심 내용요소 및 주제를 도출하여 2022 개정 사 회과 교육과정에 얼마나 ESG교육 내용 요소가 포함되어 있는지를 분석한 연구이다. ESG는 환경 (E), 사회(S), 지배구조(G)를 의미하며 기업의 지속가능성을 평가하는 지표로 널리 사용되지만, 아 직 교육 현장에서는 그 중요성에 대한 인식이 부족하다. 그러나 ESG는 단순한 기업의 사회적 책임 을 넘어 미래 사회를 변화시키는 핵심 동력이므로, 청소년기부터 체계적인 교육을 통해 ESG 가치 를 함양해야 할 것이다. 이에 국내외 선행 연구를 분석하여 초⋅중⋅고등학교에서 다루어야 할 필수적인 ESG교육 내용 요소를 도출하고, 2022 개정 사회과 교육과정을 분석하여 실제 교육에의 반영 현황을 파악하였다. 연구 결과, 환경(E) 영역에서는 지구 온난화, 지속가능한 에너지, 생물다양성 등 7개 내용 요소, 사회(S) 영역에서는 인간 존중, 사회적 문제 해결 등 5개 내용 요소, 지배구조(G)영역에서는 협력 적 의사소통, 불평등 감소, 기업가정신 등 5개 내용 요소를 제시하였다. 2022 개정 사회과 교육과 정 분석 결과, 사회(S)영역에 성취기준이 편중되어 있으며, 지배구조(G)영역은 상대적으로 소홀히 다뤄지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 지배구조(G)는 의사결정 과정의 투명성, 책임성, 공정성을 확립하 는 데 매우 중요한 역할을 하므로, 미래 사회의 건전한 발전을 위해서는 더욱 강화되어야 한다. 따 라서 ESG교육이 균형있게 이루어지도록 교육과정에 지배구조(G) 관련 성취기준을 확대하고, 관련 교사 연수 및 교육자료를 개발하는 등의 변화가 필요하다.
