This study systematically analyzed research trends by applying language network analysis and topic modeling to 181 theses and 143 papers on Korean language education for Thai learners registered in the Research Information Service (RISS) from 2000 to 2024. First, the first period from 2000 to 2014 was the initial stage of Korean language education, and the main research topics seemed to be cultural understanding, basic grammar (particles, endings), and pronunciation error analysis. In the second period from 2015 to 2019, research on idiomatic expressions, textbook development, and speech act strategies (especially refusal speech acts) increased, focusing on improving practical language skills. In the third period from 2020 to 2024, research on language functions (semantic expansion, pragmatics, etc.) was prominent, and practical research related to Korean language education in middle and high schools was also active. In general, it is judged that research on Korean language education for Thai learners has developed into ‘cultural understanding’, ‘practical expression’, and ‘field-centered education’. In the early studies, language structure and cultural comparison were the main focus, but the scope of research has gradually expanded as learners’ communication skills and practical tasks in the teaching field are emphasized.

이 연구는 2000년부터 2024년까지 학술연구정보서비스(RISS)에 등재된 태국인 학 습자를 위한 한국어교육 관련 학위논문 181편과 소논문 143편을 대상으로 언어 네트워 크 분석과 토픽 모델링을 적용하여 연구 동향을 체계적으로 분석한 것이다. 우선, 2000 년부터 2014년까지 제1기는 한국어교육의 초기 단계로, 문화 이해와 기초 문법(조사, 어미) 및 발음 오류 분석 등이 주요 연구 주제였던 것으로 보인다. 2015년부터 2019년 까지 제2기에는 관용 표현, 교재 개발, 화행 전략(특히 거절 화행 등) 등에 관한 연구가 증가하며 실용적 언어 능력 향상에 집중되었다. 2020년부터 2024년까지 제3기에는 언 어 기능(의미 확장, 화용론 등) 연구가 두드러졌으며, 중고등학교 한국어교육 현장과 관련된 실제적인 연구도 활발했다. 전반적으로 태국인 학습자를 위한 한국어교육 연구 는 ‘문화적 이해’, ‘실용적 표현’, ‘현장 중심 교육’으로 발전해 온 것으로 판단된다. 초기 연구에서는 언어 구조와 문화 비교가 주를 이루었으나, 점차 학습자의 의사소통 능력 과 교수 현장의 실천적 과제가 강조되며 연구의 폭이 확대되어 왔다.
