This study employed Structural Topic Modeling (STM) to comprehensively explore the research topics and practical directions of sports-driven social integration within a multicultural society. For this purpose, 192 research articles related to multiculturalism and sports registered in the Research Information Sharing Service (RISS) from 2002 to 2025 were analyzed. Results indicated that sports-based social integration research primarily focused on specific groups such as women, youth, and multicultural family children, emphasizing program development and educational approaches tailored to these groups. Notably, recent research concerning sports programs for multicultural family children has rapidly increased, highlighting the growing importance of sports as a practical means of social integration. In contrast, studies on athletes’ cultural perceptions and specific cultural attitudes appeared relatively limited. Based on these findings, this study suggests the necessity for comprehensive policies and programs that consider the diverse characteristics of all members within a multicultural society. Moreover, it emphasizes the importance of expanding in-depth research using international comparative analyses and qualitative methodologies to further deepen the understanding of sports' integrative functions and roles in multicultural societies.

본 연구는 구조적 토픽 모델링을 활용하여 다문화사회에서 스포츠를 통한 사회통합 연구의 주제와 실천적 방향성을 심층적으로 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 2002년부터 2025 년까지 국내 학술연구정보서비스(RISS)에 등록된 다문화와 스포츠 관련 연구 논문 192 편을 분석하였다. 연구 결과, 다문화사회에서 스포츠를 통한 사회통합 연구는 주로 여 성, 청소년, 다문화가정 아동과 같은 특정 집단 중심으로 이루어졌으며, 이들을 위한 프 로그램 개발과 교육적 접근이 주요하게 다루어지고 있음을 확인하였다. 특히 최근 다 문화가정 아동을 위한 스포츠 프로그램 관련 연구가 급증하여, 스포츠가 실질적인 사 회통합 수단으로서의 중요성이 높아지고 있음을 시사했다. 반면, 스포츠 선수의 문화 적 인식이나 특정 문화적 태도에 관한 연구는 상대적으로 미흡한 것으로 나타났다. 이 러한 결과를 바탕으로 본 연구는 다문화사회 내 다양한 구성원의 특성을 고려한 포괄 적인 정책과 프로그램의 필요성을 제안하였다. 또한, 국제적 비교 분석과 질적연구 방 법을 활용한 심층적 연구의 확대를 통해 다문화사회에서 스포츠의 사회통합적 기능과 역할에 대한 이해를 더욱 심화시킬 필요가 있음을 강조하였다.
