This research examines the ESG aspects revealed in the storytelling of the TV drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young-woo.” Its purpose is to understand the ESG elements in storytelling and establish a foundation for exploring its genre possibilities. In the TV drama “Extraordinary Attorney Woo Young-woo,” the E (Environmental) aspect could be measured by the various images of whales and the central function of Woo Young-woo, a character with autism spectrum disorder, in each episode. Their storytelling shows the foundation of sustainability by making us look closely at inhuman and antisocial environments. The S (Social) aspect was revealed through the conflicting subjects and resolutions of legal cases. This demonstrated that our society is a “judgment society,” and these judgments reached the aesthetic system by creating fractures in the familiar, as mentioned by Rancière. Finally, the G (Governance) aspect could be understood through the protagonist Woo Young-woo and other supporting characters ultimately moving toward companionship relationships. The relationships between characters essentially represent the largest recreation of what is mentioned as the G element in corporations. These include the economic aspect that successful content in the global market must pay attention to inclusive values, and realistic risk factors such as the possibility of dangerous stories being created in the super-artificial intelligence era where even humans become targets and aim at themselves, and the fading significance of “TV” in TV dramas. This highlights the need for continued research on ESG in TV drama storytelling.

이 연구는 TV드라마 <이상한 변호사 우영우> 스토리텔링에 드러난 ESG 양상을 규 명한다. 이로써 스토리텔링의 ESG 요소를 이해하고 그 범주화의 가능성을 타진하는 데 목적이 있다. TV드라마 <이상한 변호사 우영우>에서 E는 고래의 다양한 이미지 및 자폐장애인 우영우가 각 에피소드에서 핵심적 기능을 하는 것으로써 그 지표를 가늠할 수 있었다. 이러한 스토리텔링은 몰인간적․비사회적 환경을 자세히 들여다보게 하는 것 으로서 지속가능성을 보여주었다. S는 법정 사건 사고를 다루는 갈등 주체와 갈등의 결 말을 통해 드러났다. 전자는 S의 소재 차원이라면 후자는 S를 전략적으로 드러냈다. 이 로써 우리 사회가 판결 사회임을 드러내 보였는데 그 판결은 랑시에르가 언급한 바 익 숙한 것에 균열을 내는 것으로서 미학적 체계에 이르는 것이었다. 마지막으로 G는 주 인공 우영우와 다른 동료 등장인물들이 종국에는 동반자적 관계로 나아가는 것에서 그 면면을 이해할 수 있었다. 등장인물 간의 관계는 기업에서 G 요소로 언급한 바를 가장 크게 재현하고 있는 셈이다. 자국우선주의로 인해 ESG의 범지구적 구현에 장애가 생겨 그 확장이 둔화될 수 있다는 우려에도 불구하고 스토리텔링의 ESG 성장과 관련한 새로 운 동력은 그에 못지않다. 세계 시장에서 성공한 콘텐츠가 되려면 포괄적 가치에 주의 해야한다는 경제적 측면 그리고 초인공지능 시대에 인간조차도 대상이 되어 스스로를 조준하는 위험한 스토리가 만들어질 수 있다는 점, TV드라마에서 TV의 의미가 퇴색되 고 있다는 점 등 현실적인 위험 요소가 그것이다. 이는 TV드라마 스토리텔링의 ESG 연 구가 지속적으로 필요한 대목이다.
