The purpose of this study is to contribute to the improvement of the support system in the field of disabled sports by thoroughly exploring the process of the national deaf football team participating in international competitions. The study participants were seven players and three coaches who participated in the 2022 Deaflympics, and data was collected through in-depth interviews. The collected data was analyzed using the grounded theory procedure, including open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. The analysis yielded 35 concepts, 18 subcategories, and 10 categories, with the core category being “The journey of the national team growing through challenges despite constraints.” This study provides practical foundational data for qualitative understanding of elite sports for the deaf and for establishing operational systems and policy support directions for the national team.

본 연구는 청각장애인 국가대표 축구팀의 국제대회 참가 과정을 심층 적으로 탐색하여 그 경험의 의미를 밝히고, 장애인 스포츠 분야의 지원 체계 개선에 기여하고자 하였다. 연구 참여자는 2022년 데플림픽에 출전 한 선수 7명과 지도자 3명이며, 심층면담을 통해 수집한 자료는 Strauss 와 Corbin(2001)의 근거이론 절차에 따라 개방코딩, 축코딩, 선택코딩의 과정을 거쳐 분석되었다. 분석 결과 35개의 개념, 18개의 하위범주, 10개 의 상위범주가 도출되었으며, ‘제약 속에서 도전하며 성장하는 국가대 표의 여정’이 핵심범주로 도출되었다. 이 범주는 열악한 지원 환경, 팀 내 갈등, 비체계적인 운영 구조 등 다양한 제약을 마주한 선수들이, 데 플림픽 출전을 계기로 심리적 성장, 팀워크, 자아 성찰의 과정을 통해 진정한 국가대표로 거듭나는 변화를 포괄한다. 본 연구는 청각장애인 엘 리트 스포츠에 대한 질적 이해를 심화시킴과 동시에, 국가대표 운영 체 계 및 정책적 지원 방향 수립에 실천적 기초자료를 제공한다는 점에서 학문적·사회적 의의가 있다.
