This study analyzes how the media framing of energy transition for carbon neutrality differs according to the political orientation of news outlets. To this end, general news articles and editorials were collected from five major South Korean newspapers-Chosun Ilbo, JoongAng Ilbo, and Dong-A Ilbo (conservative); Hankyoreh and Kyunghyang (progressive)- and examined using both text mining techniques and traditional content analysis. The text mining analysis of general articles showed that conservative media emphasized the expansion of nuclear power and the strengthening of industrial and technological competitiveness centered on hydrogen as key means to achieve energy transition. In contrast, progressive media highlighted the urgency of addressing the climate crisis, advocating for the expansion of renewable energy and the phasing out of nuclear and coal power. Human-coded content analysis of editorials revealed that conservative newspapers criticized the policy of phasing out nuclear energy, the rapid pace of energy transition, and the perceived inefficiencies of renewable energy, while underscoring the necessity of expanding nuclear power. On the other hand, progressive newspapers pointed to the environmental and societal problems associated with nuclear and coal-fired power, and emphasized the need for faster energy transition and greater investment in renewable energy. Based on the observed differences in media frames, the study discusses implications for risk communication related to carbon neutrality.

이 연구는 탄소중립을 위한 에너지전환 언론보도에 있어 언론사의 정파성에 따라 언 론보도 프레임에 차이가 있는지 분석하고자, <조선일보>, <중앙일보>, <동아일보>, <한 겨레신문>, <경향신문>을 대상으로 일반기사 및 사설을 수집하여 텍스트 마이닝을 통한 내용분석과 전통적 의미의 내용분석을 함께 수행하였다. 일반기사를 대상으로 텍스트 마이닝 분석 결과, 보수언론은 에너지전환을 실현하기 위해 원자력 확대와 수소 중심의 산업·기술 경쟁력 확보를 강조한 반면 진보언론은 기후위기의 심각성을 강조하며 탈 원전·탈석탄, 재생에너지 확대 정책의 시급성을 강조했다. 사설을 대상으로 한 휴먼 코딩 내용분석을 통해 보수신문은 탈원전 정책과 신재생에너지 확대, 너무 빠른 에너지 전환 속도의 문제점을 지적하고, 원전 확대 필요성을 강조하고 있음을 확인했다. 반면, 진보언론은 원자력발전과 석탄화력발전 사용으로 인한 문제와 너무 느린 에너지전환 속도의 문제점을 지적하고, 신재생에너지 확대와 탈원전 필요성을 강조하고 있었다. 에 너지전환에 대한 보수언론과 진보언론의 보도 프레임 차이를 바탕으로 탄소중립을 위 한 위험 커뮤니케이션 문제에 대해 논하였다.
