This study analyzes the theological crisis faced by the contemporary church within the dominant structures of capitalism and consumerism, from a practical theology perspective, and seeks alternative responses. Capitalism has evolved beyond a mere economic system to function as a dominant ideology encompassing human thought, values, and religious practices. Consequently, the modern church has gradually lost its communal identity centered on the Word of God and transformed into a consumer-oriented organization offering "spiritual products." Recognizing this phenomenon not simply as a cultural shift but as a form of "structural evil," this study explores how the church can recover its identity and mission within the consumerist system. To this end, Michael E. Porter's "5 Forces" framework is theologically reinterpreted and applied to analyze the church's competitive environment, conceptualized as the "spiritual market structure." The analysis identifies five critical forces: God as the ultimate supplier, believers reduced to consumers, competitive relationships among churches, online and non-traditional faith substitutes, and the empowerment of consumer sovereignty. These factors collectively demand theological resistance and structural reflection for the church to reclaim the essence of the Gospel. This study particularly emphasizes that the church must not merely pursue internal reform but also establish itself as an "alternative community" that embodies the values of the Kingdom of God through critical awareness of and practical resistance to the external environment. Accordingly, it proposes a redefinition of the pastoral identity as an interpreter, a resister, and a community builder. As interpreters, pastors must discern capitalist values and reinterpret meanings based on the Word of God; as resisters, they must lead theological and practical resistance against secular consumer culture; and as community builders, they must guide believers to respond to God's calling and form a life-giving community that nurtures one another. In conclusion, this study argues that the contemporary church must move beyond uncritical conformity to the trend of consumer satisfaction and reestablish its reason for existence based on the essence of the Gospel, thus living as a holy community committed to the mission of God.

본 연구는 자본주의와 소비주의라는 현대 사회의 지배적 구조 속에서 교회가 직면 한 신학적 위기를 실천신학의 관점에서 분석하고, 이에 대한 대안을 모색하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 자본주의는 단순한 경제 체제를 넘어 인간의 사고와 가치, 그리고 종교적 실천까지 포섭하는 지배 이데올로기로 작용하고 있으며, 이로 인해 현대 교회는 하나 님의 말씀을 중심으로 한 공동체적 정체성을 점차 상실하고, '영적 상품'을 제공하는 소비자 중심의 조직으로 변모하고 있다. 본 연구는 이러한 현상을 단순한 문화적 변 화가 아닌 ‘구조적 악’으로 인식하며, 소비주의 체계 속에서 교회의 정체성과 사명을 어떻게 회복할 수 있을지를 탐구한다. 이를 위해 마이클 포터(Michael E. Porter)의 ‘5 Forces’ 이론을 신학적으로 재해석하고, 이를 바탕으로 교회를 둘러싼 경쟁 환경, 즉 ‘영적 시장 구조’(spiritual market structure)를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 공급자 되시는 하나님, 소비자로 전락한 성도, 경쟁 관계에 있는 교회들, 온라인 및 비정통적 신앙 대체재, 그리고 강화된 소비자 주권이라는 다섯 가지 요인 속에서 현대 교회는 복음 의 본질을 회복하기 위해 신학적 저항과 구조적 성찰을 요구받고 있음이 확인되었다. 특히 본 연구는 교회가 단순히 내부적 개혁에 머무는 것이 아니라, 외부 환경에 대한 비판적 인식과 대안적 실천을 통해 '하나님 나라'의 가치를 구현하는 '대안 공동체'(alternative community)로 자리매김해야 함을 강조한다. 이를 위해 목회자의 정체성 을 ‘해석자’, ‘저항자’, ‘공동체 형성자’로 재정립할 것을 제안한다. 해석자로서 목회자는 자본주의적 가치관을 분별하고 하나님의 말씀에 입각한 의미를 해석해야 하며, 저항 자로서 세속적 소비문화에 대항하는 신학적·실천적 저항을 주도해야 한다. 또한 공동 체 형성자로서, 성도들이 하나님의 부르심에 응답하며 서로를 세워가는 생명의 공동 체를 이루도록 이끌어가는 역할을 감당해야 한다. 결론적으로, 본 연구는 현대 교회가 소비자 만족이라는 시대적 흐름에 무비판적으로 편승하는 것을 넘어, 복음의 본질에 근거하여 존재 이유를 새롭게 확립하고, 하나님의 거룩한 사명을 수행하는 살아있는 공동체로서 존재해야 함을 역설한다.
