The author studied the Samson birth episode in the Samson narrative through three homiletical moves of exegesis, principlization. and sermon. First, in the exegesis stage, the method of narrative literary criticism is mobilized to grasp the exact meaning of the biblical text. Second, in the principlization stage, the spiritual lesson is derived from the already secured exegetical meaning. In this stage, the human-centered approach such as exemplary and moralizing is avoided and the perspective of “the whole Bible” (Tota Scriptura) and redemptive-historical interpretation is approached. Third, in the sermon stage, the principled message derived as a spiritual lesson is delivered to today’s audience as an applicationoriented message through re-contextualization. The Samson birth episode teaches the believer, who is in a completely fallen state, the grace of God’s unconditional election before the creation of the world. Through the three-stage homiletical moves of the Samson birth episode, it will be possible to derive a sermon message that proclaims the contradictory behavior of believers who live in unbelief while being believers and the absolute sovereign grace of God that covers it.
