This study aims to explore the philosophical foundation and spiritual background of tea meditation, demonstrating its deep connection with the ‘Seon’spirit of Seon Buddhism. Existing research has focused on tea meditation as a tool for psychological healing and emotional stability, emphasizing treatment and therapy. However, there is relatively little research that includes a philosophical exploration of Buddhist thought or is related to the concept of Daseonilyeo(the unity of meditation and action). Despite this, most tea meditation-related paper center around the concept of mental tea culture, reflecting the idea that tea is not merely a beverage but also serves as a spiritual and philosophical tool. Tea meditation is utilized as a meditative tool for spiritual practice and the purification of the mind. From this perspective, Daseonilyeo can serve as an important philosophical foundation in tea meditation research, and this study suggests that tea meditation forms a complementary relationship with the core spirit of Seon Buddhism. The study argues that tea meditation, as a practice of mindfulness, holds significance as an important means of practice of mindfulness, holds significance as an important means of practicing the ‘Seon’ spirit of Seon Buddhism.

본 연구는 차명상의 철학적 기초와 그 정신적 배경을 탐구하여 차명상이 선불교의 ‘선’ 정신과 깊은 연관이 있음을 밝히고자 하였다. 기존의 선행연구를 보면 차명상은 심리적 치유나 정서적 안정의 도구로 활용하여 치료와 치유에 중점을 두었다, 그러나 불교사상에 대한 철학적 탐구를 포함한 연구나 다선일여(茶禪一如)와 관련된 논문은 상대적으로 적다는 것을 알 수 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고 대부분의 차명상 관련 연구들은 정신적 차 문화를 중심으로 다루고 있으며 이는 차가 단순히 음료를 넘어서 정신적이고 철학적인 도구로의 역할을 지닌다는 사실을 반영한다. 차명상은 정신적 수행과 마음의 정화를 위한 명상 도구로 활용하고 있다. 이와 같은 관점에서 다선일여는 차명상 연구에서 중요한 철학적 근거가 될 수 있으며, 차명상이 선불교의 핵심 정신과 상호보완적인 관계를 형성하고 있음을 제시한다. 본 연구는 차명상이 마음챙김 명상뿐만 아니라 선불교의 ‘선’ 정신을 실천하는 중요한 수행으로서의 의미를 지닌다고 주장한다. 따라서 차명상은 선불교 철학적 연계를 통해 정신적 차 문화를 확립하는 중요한 역할을 하며 향후 연구는 이를 더 깊이 탐구하고 현대적 맥락에서 활용 가능성을 제시할 필요가 있음을 제안한다.
