Contemporary preachers often face the challenge that the language of Scripture feels distant and unfamiliar to their congregations. As Sallie McFague has pointed out, the gap between divine language and human language leads to misunderstandings and even the idolization of religious language. As a result, the language of preaching risks being perceived as distorted or disconnected from the contemporary world. In response to this hermeneutical concern, this study turns to the thought of Martin Heidegger, a philosopher who profoundly explored the ontological nature of language. Heidegger does not consider language as a mere tool of communication but as the very site where Being discloses itself. Particularly in his later works, such as Unterwegs zur Sprache and Logik als die Frage nach dem Wesen der Sprache, Heidegger emphasizes that language encompasses not only speaking, but also silence, calling, and questioning. This study draws on Heidegger’s philosophical insights not to offer a comprehensive interpretation of his thought, but to creatively appropriate his understanding of language for homiletical reflection. It seeks to reconstruct the language of Scripture through the dual concepts of call and question, and to suggest that the language of preaching should be understood as a practical event that discloses truth by encompassing both the voice of Scripture and the voice of the preacher. Rather than defining the essence of biblical language, this study aims to ask how and why preachers today can still stand upon and speak through this language-a question of practical hermeneutics in the face of theological and linguistic estrangement.

현대 설교자는 종종 성서의 언어가 청중에게 낯설고 멀게 느껴지는 현실에 직면한다. 샐리 맥페이그(Sallie McFague)가 지적하듯, 하나님의 언어와 인간의 언어 사이의 간극은 종교 언어를 오해하게 만들고, 그 결과 설교 언어 역시 왜곡되거나 단절된 언어로 받아들여 질 위험에 처해 있다. 본고는 이러한 해석학적 문제의식을 바탕으로, 언어의 본질에 천착한 마르틴 하이데거(Martin Heidegger)의 사유에 주목한다. 하이데거는 언어를 ‘존재의 집’으 로 이해하며, 언어가 단순한 의미 전달의 수단이 아니라 존재가 스스로를 드러내는 방식이 라는 점을 강조한다. 본 연구는 하이데거의 후기 언어 이론, 특히 『언어로의 도상에서』와 『언어의 본질에 대한 물음으로서의 논리학』을 중심으로, 성서 언어를 ‘부름’과 ‘물음’이라는 두 개념으로 해석학적으로 재구성하고자 한다. 이러한 관점에서 설교 언어는 성서의 언어 와 인간의 말을 포괄하여 진리를 드러내는 실천으로 이해되며, 존재론적 차원에서의 성찰 을 촉구하는 언어의 사건으로 제안된다. 이는 성서 언어의 본질을 규정하려는 시도가 아니 라, 왜 그리고 어떻게 오늘의 설교자가 여전히 이 언어 위에 설 수 있는지를 물으려는 실천적 해석학의 한 시도이다.
