This paper critiques the classification of Daoist ethics as virtue ethics and instead proposes interpreting it through the lens of moral particularism and negative ethics. Unlike universalism, which asserts that ethical theories can be applied broadly to individual actions and society, moral particularism rejects absolute moral laws and emphasizes the importance of context, situational factors, and individual emotions and judgments. Negative ethics, in turn, challenges the primacy of morality, arguing that because morality is always embedded in concrete and specific situations, no general ethical principles can be universally established. Daoist ethics does not endorse defining human beings and their relationships through fixed virtues, nor does it support viewing individuals and society exclusively through an ethical framework. Rather than advocating for the abolition of morality, Laozi and Zhuangzi critique the human tendency to perceive the world solely through a moral lens.

본고는 도가 윤리를 도덕적 특수주의의 한 형태로 바라볼 것을 제안 하고 그 사유 체계를 부정 윤리라는 관점에서 해석하였다. 도덕적 특 수주의는 윤리 이론이 개인의 행동과 사회 전반에 적용될 수 있다는 보편주의와는 달리 상황과 맥락 그리고 개인의 감정과 판단을 종합적 으로 고려한다. 부정 윤리는 도덕의 우월성을 지지하지 않으며, 도덕은 항상 구체적이고 특수한 상황 속에 포함되어 있기 때문에 일반적인 윤 리적 원칙이 확립할 수 없다는 접근법이다. 도가 윤리는 획일적인 덕 목으로 인간 관계를 규정하고 인간 행동을 윤리적으로만 보려는 관점 을 승인하지 않는다. 노장이 거부하는 것은 도덕의 폐기가 아니라 세 상을 윤리적 관점으로만 파악하려는 인간의 편향성이다.
