This research is to study characteristics described in Myunggo Seo Hyung Soo's (1749-1824) Kimun, focusing on companionship literature. Myunggo was from Dalsung Seo family who were Soron party, and was recognized by king Jungjo as Chokye scholar, and left many literature. Myunggo highlighted the timeliness and practicality of literature. Especially he argured that the writer sufficiently should reflect the contemporary issues. This aspect of literature was well described in Myunggo's Kimun. We can characterize Myunggo's Nujungki into following 3 aspects. At first, he created the room for self reflection and search for identity by his literature. Second, he gave advice and authority appropriate to the situation of the person who asked for Kimun. Third, he focused on naming, reflecting the reality. Myunggo wrote Nujungki for the existent space, not imaginary one. He made naming or evaluated other's naming by the way of deeply studying the relation between the owner of Nujung and its naming. He wrote Kimun by the way of exploring Name's attribute and reason through discussion and a question and answer method. Myunggo's Nujungki put more stress on the opinion reflecting the validity and relevance of the building owner or requester of naming, than the article reflecting the objective location of building or the evaluation on the surrounding landscape. This showed Myunggo's attitude that focused on Naming accordant on the reality. Myunggo's Nujungki' characteristic shows his literary aspect of stressing on opinion in the middle era of Chosun dynasty, rather than the aspect of drastic vignette in the later era of Chosun dynasty.

본고에서는 명고 서형수(1749-1824)의 記文에 나타난 특징을 樓亭記를 중심으로 살펴보았다. 명고는 소론계 달성 서씨 가문 출신으로 정조에게 실력을 인정받아 抄啟文臣으로 활약하였고, 많은 작품을 남겼다. 명고는 문학의 時宜性과 실용성을 중요시하였다. 특히 당대의 현실을 충실히 반영한 글을 지어야 함을 강조하였다. 명고의 기문에는 이러한 문학관이 잘 투영되어 나타난다. 명고의 누정기에 나타난 특징은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기 성찰과 정체성 모색의 공간을 조성하였다. 둘째, 記文 청탁자의 상황에 맞는 권계와 조언을 하였다. 셋째, 實質에 부합하는 命名을 중시하였다. 명고는 상상이 아닌 실재하는 공간에 대한 누정기를 작성하였다. 그리고, 자신과 타인의 공간의 이름을 직접 짓거나 다른 이가 지은 이름에 대해 평가할 때, 누정의 주인과 명명의 관련성을 매우 심도 있게 살피는 식으로 논의를 전개하였다. 이때, 상대방과의 대화나 자문자답을 통해 대상의 속성과 이치를 탐색하는 방식으로 記文을 작성하였다. 명고의 누정기에는 객관적인 위치에 대해 기술한 記事나, 주변 경치를 서술한 寫境보다는 건물과 관련된 인물이나 청탁자와 命名의 타당성이나 적절성에 대해 탐지하는 議論이 큰 비중을 차지하는 공통점이 있다. 이는 실질에 부합하는 命名을 중시했던 명고의 태도가 반영된 것으로 보인다. 이러한 명고 누정기의 특징에는 파격적인 소품문이 나타난 조선 후기의 문단 경향보다는 의론을 중시했던 조선 중기의 면모가 일부 남아 있다고 할 수 있다.
