A Longitudinal Study of Career Attitude Maturity Changes for Elementary School Students

The purpose of this study was to examine factors that influence career attitude maturity changes using longitudinal analysis. Data for the study was from the data of the Korean Youth Panel Survey conducted by the Korea Institute for Youth Development. The panel data were collected from 2,844 elementary school students, and their parents. The major findings of the study were as follows; (1) Longitudinal investigation found an increase in rate of career attitude maturity among elementary school students as they progressed form 4th grade to 5th grade. (2) Gender types, academic achievement level, SES, and educational level of parents had a significant relationship with career attitude maturity of elementary school students. (3) Academic achievement, scholastic achievement stress, and attachment with parents had a significant effect on career attitude maturity changes of elementary school students. Meanwhile changes of scholastic achievement stress and changes of self-concept had a significant effect on career maturity changes of elementary school students.
