The Korean Society for the Politics of Education was established in April 2, 1994. Journals have been published for 10 years. The number of total articles which have been published is 74. Research trends were analyzed using theses, books, and articles in the following fields: research in politics of education, educational reform, educational policy and evaluation, educational governance, educational autonomy, and school-based management, teacher, curriculum, elementary and secondary school education, college education, civil education, Korea unification, and foreign cases. The research methods mainly used in articles are descriptive approaches, policy and politics approaches, and single person studies. Main researchers major in educational administration. The number of persons who published his/her articles more than 2 times is 15. Research fields which should be more emphasized in the future are the following: excellence and choice, politics of change, micro-politics in schools, political socialization in 21st century, influence of interest groups, formation of new school system, politics of finance distribution, politics of education between urban area and rural area, politics of education in female sex, research methods of politics of education in Korea, and educational politics of unification of Korea.

한국교육정치학회가 1994년 4월 2일 창립총회를 가진 이후 2004년까지 매년 한두 차례의 학술대회가 개최되었고, 교육정치학연구지에 74편의 논문이 수록되었다. 한국교육정치학의 연구동향 분석을 위해 학위논문, 단행본, 학술지 논문들이 사용되었고, 내용분석은 교육정치학연구, 교육개혁, 교육정책 및 평가, 교육통치, 교육자치 및 학교자치, 교원, 교육과정, 초중등교육, 대학교육, 시민교육, 남북문제, 외국의 사례 등 11 영역에서 이루어졌다. 연구방법은 서술적, 정책 및 정치적 접근, 단독연구가 주종을 이루고 있으며, 연구 참여자들의 전공은 교육행정이 주류이며 2회 이상 게재자가 15명이다. 연구가 더 이루어져야 할 분야는 수월성과 선택, 변화의 정치학, 단위학교의 미시정치학, 새로운 세기의 정치사회화, 이익집단의 영향력, 새로운 학교체제의 형성, 교육재정 배분의 정치학, 도시와 농촌의 교육정치학, 성의 교육정치학, 한국교육정치학 연구방법론, 남북통합의 교육정치학 등이다.
