This article seeks to search for establishment of identity of politics of education. Recently diverse topics and themes were dealt with many scholars who work for education field. However, it is hard to find congruent consensus among scholars about the scope and approaches to research in the field of politics of education. Therefore, this paper focused on developing theoretical frameworks to understand and approach about education and political phenomena. This paper illustratively suggested inquiry scope and approach of politics of education using some variables such as sub-category, theoretical level, unit of analysis and pursuing values. Based on identifying the relationship between education and politics, analyzing disciplinary characteristics and approaches of politics of education, this paper suggested some ideas for activating research in the field of politics of education.

교육학 분야에서 교육정치학이 학문적으로 자리매김 한 것은 이 학문 태생의 본고장이라고 할 수 있는 미국과는 달리 우리나라에서 그리 오래되지 않는다. 그러나 학문으로서의 교육정치학 분야에 대한 지속적인 탐구는 한국 교육정치현상과 문화에 대한 이해와 바람직한 교육정책 방향설정에 기여하게 된다. 이러한 배경에서 본 글에서는 교육정치학의 학문적 성격에 대한 기술과 이를 토대로 한국교육정치학의 학문적 정체성 모색과 관련된 논의를 전개하였다. 교육정치학의 학문적 정체성을 탐색하기 위하여 그 탐구영역으로는 교육과 정치이념 및 가치, 정치체제, 정치문화, 정치권력, 정치과정, 정책분석 등을, 그리고 접근방식으로는 이론수준, 분석단위, 접근방법, 추구 가치 등을 매트릭스 형태로 제시하였다. 끝으로 교육정치학의 학문적 성격과 접근방법, 한국교육정치학의 학문적 토대 구축을 위한 탐구영역 등을 통하여 한국 교육정치학의 학문적 정체성 모색을 위한 일곱 가지 방안을 제시하였다.
