This study aims to explore the academic experiences of Chinese students pursuing doctoral degrees in South Korea. It investigates the factors influencing their academic performance and examines how these factors shape their academic success and daily life in Korea. Using a phenomenological approach, the study collected data from 11 participants and analyzed it using Colaizzi's method of data analysis. The analysis yielded 253 meanings, 35 concepts, 11 subcategories, and 4 supercategories. The findings reveal that the academic journeys of Chinese doctoral students in Korea are characterized by four themes: environmental integration, pursuit of aspirations, knowledge exploration, and overcoming adversities. These themes underscore the complex interplay of personal and socio-cultural factors that influence their academic adaptation and self-development. This study provides a deeper understanding of cross-cultural academic experiences among Chinese doctoral students and offers practical insights to improve support services for international students.

본 연구의 목적은 한국에서 박사과정을 수행하는 중국 유학생들의 학업 경험을 탐색하는 것이다. 즉 그들의 학업에 영향을 미치는 요인을 살펴보고 이러한 요인 이 그들의 학업과 유학 생활에서 어떠한 역할을 하는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 본 연구는 현상학적 접근을 활용하여 11명의 연구 참여자의 자료를 수집하였으며, Colaizzi가 제안한 방법에 따라 자료를 분석하였다. 자료 분석은 총 253개의 의미, 35개의 개념, 11개의 하위 범주, 4개의 상위 범주의 결과로 드러났다. 연구 결과에 따르면, 재한 중국인 박사과정 유학생들의 학업 경험은 ‘환경 통합’, ‘꿈의 추구’, ‘지식 탐구’, ‘역경 돌파’ 로 상위 범주화된 네 가지 주제로 도출되었으며, 이는 개인 및 사회적 차원에서 이루어지는 학업 적응과 자아 성장의 과정을 보여주었다. 본 연구의 결과는 중국 박사과정 유학생들의 학업에 대한 문화적 경험을 보다 깊 게 이해하는데 도움을 줄뿐 아니라, 유학생들에게 현실적으로 필요한 서비스를 제공할 수 있는 기반을 제공한다.
