In this paper, the current state of degrowth theory is examined by leaning on the discussions since the 2000s by Serge Latouche, a world-renowned master of degrowth theory, who has been expanding its practical scope by converging various adjacent disciplines, such as ecology, cultural anthropology, sociology, and political philosophy, to discuss degrowth theory in a multifaceted manner. It was set as an important task to point out. In particular, I would like to discuss his critical awareness of the political philosophical basis for degrowth practice, which is not easily found in other degrowth theories. In addition, I would like to focus on the discussion on ‘Localization’ or ‘Relocalization’ as a key practical concept for the transition to the degrowth trend, which is at the core of his degrowth-related discussions.

본 고에서는 이와 같은 탈성장론의 세계적 거장인, 특히 자본주의 비판에 초점을 맞춘 급진적 정치경제학을 논의의 플랫폼으로 설정하면서 그 기반 위에서 생태학, 문화인류학, 사회학, 정치철학 등 다양한 인접 학문을 통섭적으로 수렴하여 탈성장론을 다면적으로 논의하고 또 그 실천적 영역을 확대하고 있는 프랑스의 세르주 라투슈(Serge Latouche)의 2000년대 이후 논의에 기대어 탈성장론의 현재를 짚어보 는 것을 중요한 과제로 설정하였다. 특히, 여타 탈성장론에서는 쉽게 찾아볼 수 없는 탈성장 실천을 위한 정치철학적 기초에 관한 그의 문제의식에 관해 논의하고자 하며, 또한 그의 탈성장 관련 논의의 핵심에 자리 잡고 있는 탈성장 기조로의 전환을 위한 핵심 실천 개념으로 서의 ‘지역화(Localization)’ 또는 ‘재지역화(relocalization)’에 초점을 맞춰 논의하고자 한다.
