The purpose of this study is to analyze and interpret the characteristics of Buddhist philosophy as reflected in Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui's work Sutra, and to investigate how his artistic expression embodies the values and ideas of Buddhism. The research method will primarily involve a literature review to establish a theoretical foundation, which will then be used as the basis for analyzing how these concepts are expressed in Sutra. The work deals with themes such as meditation, interdependence, denial of self, impermanence, liberation, and peace, and visually represents these ideas through dance and movement. Through this study, it will be revealed how Sutra explores the deep interaction between contemporary dance art and Buddhist culture, contributing to a deeper understanding of the positive impact that dance art can have on mental health, personal self-exploration, social integration, and cultural dialogue.

이 연구의 목적은 시디 라르비 셰르카위의 작품 <수트라>를 중심으로 불교사상의 특징을 분석하고 해석하여, 그의 예술적 표현이 어떻게 불교의 가치와 사상을 반영하는지를 규명하는 것이다. 연구방법은 크게 문헌 연구 를 통해 이론적 배경을 마련하고, 이를 기반으로 작품 분석을 통해 <수트라> 에서 어떻게 표현되고 있는지를 파악하는 데 중점을 둘 것이다. 작품은 명상과 인연, 자아 부정과 무상성, 그리고 해방과 평화 등의 주제를 중심 으로 다루며, 춤과 움직임을 통해 이러한 개념들을 시각적으로 표현하였다. 이 연구를 통해 <수트라>가 현대 무 용 예술과 불교문화 사이의 깊은 상호작용을 어떻게 탐구할 수 있는지를 밝히며, 이는 무용 예술이 정신 건강, 개인의 자아 탐색, 사회적 통합, 문화적 대화 등에 미치는 긍정적 영향을 더 깊이 이해하는 데 기여할 것이다.
