There have been many missionary conferences in the 20th century, but the most active one is the Lausanne Missionary Movement. The Lausanne Movement aims to reach the ends of the earth, the whole world, the whole gospel, and the whole church until the end of time. The theological position of the Lausanne Movement is based on the Lausanne Covenant, which was announced at the 1974 Lausanne Conference in Switzerland. The Lausanne Theology is the result of discussions on theological grounds and approaches during the first through third conferences, and provides a direction for world mission in the 21st century. The 21 confessions of the Manila Manifesto, issued in Manila, Philippines, in July 1989, set forth the responsibilities of today’s churches, mission policies, and cross-boundary communities. In this context, this thesis analyzes and discusses the Lausanne Movement with a focus on its holistic mission, the Second Manila Manifesto, to explore the direction of world mission through the Lausanne Movement in the 21st century. Voices and situations in the church and mission field often make us feel responsible for how to effectively communicate the gospel to this generation. The Lausanne Movement is a refreshing answer to our concerns.

20세기 여러 선교대회 가운데 가장 활발한 선교운동은 로잔선교운동이라 할 수 있다. 로잔운동은 땅 끝까지, 세상 끝 날까지, 모든 세상에(Whole World), 모든 복음을(Whole Gospel), 모든 교회(Whole Church) 가 전하자는 운동이다. 로잔운동의 신학적 입장은 1974년 스위스 로잔대회에서 발표된 로잔언약(The Lausanne Covenant)에 근거한다. 그리고 로잔신학은 1-3차 대회까지 진행하는 동안 신학적 근거와 접근방법을 논의한 결과로 21세기 세계선교의 방향을 제시한다. 그중 1989년 7월 필리핀마닐라에서 발표된 마닐라 선언문 21개 항의 고백은 오늘의 교회와 선교정책, 경계를 넘는 공동체가 수행해야 할 책무를 부여한다. 이러한 차원에서 본고는 로잔운동의 복음 선교 곧 제2회 마닐라 선언을 중심으로 로잔운동을 분석하고 논의하여 21세기 로잔운동을 통한 세계선교의 방향을 모색하려 한다. 교회와 선교 현장의 목소리와 상황들은 이세대에 어떻게 복음을 효과적으로 전달해야 할 것인가에 대한 책임을 느끼게 할 때가 많다. 이러한 때 우리의 고민을 시원하게 풀어주는 답이 바로로잔운동이다.
